Congestive Heart Failure(CHF)is a serious and complex clinical syndrome, with high morbidity, prevalence and concomitant disability, which is a serious stage of heart disease. So does a huge threat to human's health and quality. In recent decades, with the development of economic, the social and natural environment of China, and changes in people's living standards,Coronary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and other prevalence is increasing, the cause of heart failure has also undergone tremendous changes, coronary heart disease has replaced rheumatic heart disease and become the main cause of heart failure. With the growth of age,the number of patients with heart failure is expanding, and the prevalence of heart failure is increasing. Therefore,it is very important to find a heart failure marker with high specificity, sensitivity and reliable blood concentration. And it is very essential for early detection, early prediction and early intervention of patients with heart failure. In recent years, studies have shown that,CA125 can be used as a new marker for the diagnosis of heart failure, which is a new indicator of heart failure in addition to X-ray,echocardiography and brain natriuretic peptide.ObjectiveIn this study,We measured the levels of serum CA125 and NT-pro BNP,and evaluated cardiac function with color Doppler echocardiography of congestive heart failure and healthy controls,to explore the clinical significance of serum CA125 in congestive heart failure.MethodsWe studied a consecutive cohort of 140 patients(mean age 69.50 ± 11.26 years;81 males)admitted for CHF in the in cardiology department of our hospital from December 2014 to December 2015.According to NYHA classification standard,we divided the patients with CHF into three groups: the NYHA II class(mean age 69.88±10.91 years;48 patients)?NYHA III group(mean age 68.93±12.31 years;46 patients)and NYHA IV group(mean age 68.54±9.72years;46 patients;).At the same time,we selected 30 healthy examiners as controls. In addition, the 140 patients were divided into AF(atrial fibrillation)group and non-AF group. The evaluation of CA125 and NT-pro BNP were carried out using commercial available kits. Also,we determined groups of left ventricular ejection(LVEF)?left ventricular dimensions(LVD)?left ventricular posterior wall thickness(LVPWT)?interventricularseptal thickness(IVST)and right atrial dimensions(RAD).Then, calculated the Left ventricular mass(LVM)with these numerical.Body surface area(BSA)was calculated with height and weight of patients.SPSS13.0 was used to statistically analyze the data.Categorical variables was evaluated with chi-square test(÷2)and multiple sets of metrological data were compared with single factor analysis of variance(Ftest).Correlation between CA125 and NT-pro BNP andechocardiographic parameters was analyzed by multivariate correlation analysis(Pearson or Spearman).Results(1)In CHF group,The levels of serum CA125 were much higher than the controls, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001)and the serum concentraction increased with the increase of the levels of heart function.(2)In CHF group, the levels of serum CA125 were positively correlated with NT-pro BNP(rs=0.905,P<0.001).(3)In CHF group, the levels of serum CA125 were significantly correlated with LA/BSA?LV/BSA?LVM/BSA(r=0.547?0435?0.343,P<0.001,respectively),and inversely related to LVEF(r=-0.628,P<0.001).(4)In CHF group, there was no significant difference between levels of CA125 and NT-pro BNP in patients with atrial fibrillation and without atrial fibrillation(P>0.05).Conclusion(1)In CHF group, the levels of serum CA125 were higher, and closely related to the heart function. The higher classification of the heart function was,the levels of serum CA125 increased more significantly,so serum CA125 could be as the biochemical marker, reflecting the cardiac dysfunction of heart failure.(2)The levels of serum CA125 were positively correlated with NT-pro BNP?LAD/BSA?LVD/BSA?LVM/BSA,and inversely related to LVEF.But there was no significant difference between levels of CA125 with atrial fibrillation and without atrial fibrillation.
