Duchesnea indica(Andr.)Focke, called Ground Berry,is the Rosaceae perennial herb plant. As the traditional Chinese herbal medicines recorded in the Mingyi Bielu and Compendium of Materia Medica.Mockstrawberry is widely distributed in the Yangtze River Basin of China, also in India,Europe and the Americas.Mockstrawberry is widely used in medicine,it can clearing away heat and toxic material, detumescence;subsidence of a swelling, cooling blood and hemostasis and treat snake bites and so on.This paper summarizes the research results of chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of the Mockstrawberry in recent years, find the less reported in the Duchesnea indica DPPH free radical scavenging activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity. Therefore, this paper selects two kinds of activities as the guide, used the MCI column chromatography, macroporous resin column chromatography,ODS-A reversed phase column chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography,Isolated thirteen compounds and the structure of six were identified from the plant. They are 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoxy-6-hydroxy-p-cymene(1),Methyl 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoate(2),Isolariciresinol-2a-O-β-D-xyloside(6),Apigenin-8-C-glucoside(9),(+)-1-Hydroxysyringaresinol-1-β-D-glucoside(10),(6R,9R)-3-Oxo-a-ionol-β-D-glucopyranoside(13).DPPH free radical scavenging and tyrosinase activity inhibition experiments were carried out on compounds isolated and identified, the results showed that DPPH radical scavenging rate of compounds were above 90%,the IC50 of compound 10 and 13 values were 2.07 μg/mL,2.23μg/mL,less than the positive group of vitamin C.All the compounds of the tyrosinase inhibition rate above 90%,the inhibition rate of 2 and 13 compound is higher than the reference group of kojic acid.
