Objective This study was conducted in three different methods for axillary osmidrosis which include local injection of botulinum toxin A,elimination of the apocrine glands by small incision, and minimally invasive negative pressure aspiration.A holistic and comprehensive comparative evaluation was utilised, integrating the effect of postoperative, postoperative complications, recurrence rates after surgery, and other aspects of establishing therapy methods instructing for osmidrosis choice and enhancing the satisfaction of axillary osmidrosis surgery.Method92 patients with axillary osmidrosis treated by three methods mentioned above from April 2015 to June 2016 were considered in this study which include a follow-up record in 6-9 months. The patients’ record included basic information(age, gender, the degree of axillary osmidrosis,et cetera),effect of postoperative, postoperative complications(such as bruises, hematoma, skin necrosis, cutting split, local infection, local numbness, scar contracture and so on),recurrence rates after surgery, and other information. The statistical analysis was performed through record from samples. Results The samples were allocated into three groups: local injection of botulinum toxin A group(group A),elimination of the apocrine glands by small incision group(group B),and minimally invasive negative pressure aspiration group(group C).The chi-squared test was conducted between age, gender, and the degree of axillary osmidrosis. The x2value were 24.12,0.12,and 0.16 respectively for three groups. The p values descriptive data were generated for all three groups which were 0.84,0.94,and 0.997 respectively. And it was clearly that each p-value was greater than 0.05.No significant correlation was found between age, gender, and the degree of axillary osmidrosis. The statistical analysis was used to test the curative effect of three groups. The results illustrated that no curative effect difference between mild axillary osmidrosis and all effectiveness is 100%.Meanwhile,the effectiveness for moderate axillary osmidrosis sample between three groups were 87.5%,92.3%,and 87.5% respectively. The chi-squared test shown x2 and p-value were 1.59 and 0.452 respectively. The p-value suggested no significant correlation between three groups. The effectiveness of severe axillary osmidrosis were 57.1%,84.6%,and 62.5% respectively for three groups. The chi-squared test revealed x2=19.54,and the p < 0.01.What standed out in the result was a significant difference between three groups for severe axillary osmidrosis. The chi-squared test was used between each two groups.Further statistical tests revealed a significant difference between group A and group B(c 2=18.31 and p <0.01),and group B and group C((x2=12.55 and p <0.01).In contrast,no significant difference between group A and group C(c 2=0.61 and p =0.436>0.05).The percentage of postoperative complications for three group were 2.2%,25.0%,and 10.9%respectively.The chi-squared test indicated a significant difference between the three groups(x2=23.88 and p <0.01).The further chi-squared test was assessed between each two groups. It was apparent from the p-value that significant difference among group A and group B(x2=22.12 and p <0.01),group B and group C(x2=6.75 and p=0.009<0.01),and group A and group C(c 2=6.18 and p=0.0013<0.01).The recurrence rates after surgery after half a year for three groups were 78.9%,0.0%,and10.5% respectively. The chi-squared test highlighted a significant difference between the three groups(x2=175.50 and p <0.01).The further chi-squared test was assessed between each two groups. It was apparent from the p-value that significant difference among group A and group B(c 2=130.31 and p <0.01),group B and group C(x2=11.08 and p=0.001<0.01),and group A and group C(x2=94.64 and p<0.01).Conclusion i.The results of this study indicated that no significant postoperative effect difference between three methods for mild and moderate axillary osmidrosis. For severe axillary osmidrosis, elimination of the apocrine glands by small incision tended to be superior therapy method.ii.The research had also shown that patients undergoing elimination of the apocrine glands by small incision experienced highest post-operative complications;minimally invasive negative pressure aspiration comes second. And the local injection of botulinum toxin A seemed to be the lowest risk.iii.The current results highlighted the local injection of botulinum toxin A had the highest recurrence rate after half a year, followed by minimally invasive negative pressure aspiration and the elimination of the apocrine glands by small incision was the best.
