Purpose: We study the influence of blood cells and biochemical indexes in three stages of pre-operation,before and after postoperativeadjuvant chemotherapy on survival of resectable colon cancer patients. Methods:According to the Finnish scholars Bufill’s propose,we divided colon cancer into left-sided and right-sided colon cancer at spleen. We made a retrospective analysis of 232 patients who were diagnosed with colon cancer in our hospital from January 2008 to December 2012.We collet hemocyte and biochemical indexes in three stages of pre-operation,before and after postoperativeadjuvant chemotherapy, including neutrophil count, mononuclear cell count, lymphocyte count, eosinophil count, basophilic granulocyte count, hemoglobin, red blood hemoglobin, red blood volume and red cell distribution width, red blood cells than product, platelet count, platelet volume and platelet distribution width, average blood platelet volume,C-reactive protein, albumin, globulin, lactate dehydrogenase. We used Haitai Medical Information Systems to collect information of the medical history, and get a knowledge of the survival of these patients through calling back interview. We analyzed the impact of these indexes on the survival of colon cancer patients, and compared the differences of the age, gender, clinical stage, indexes and survival between left-sided and right-sided resectable colon cancer. Results:After analysis,hemoglobin,C-reactive protein, lactic dehydrogenase and albumin were highlighted, because these four indexes wererelated to the survival of the patients. The results showed that HGB/CRP/LDH before operation,CRP/LDH before and after chemotherapy and ALB after chemotherapy reduced the survival of colon cancer patients significantly(P <0.05).In this study, the levels of HGB before operation,CRP/LDH before and after chemotherapy and LDH after chemotherapy were statistically significant between left-sided and right-sided colon cancer(P <0.05).There were no significant differences in the basic information of left-sided and right-sided colon cancer patients, including gender, age and clinical stages(P> 0.05).The difference of the three-year survival rate between left-sided and right-sided colon cancer patients was statistically significant(86.0% vs 75.7%,P <0.05).Kaplan-Meier analysis of survival curve showed that the OS of left-sided colon cancer was higher than the right-sided colon cancer. Conclusion: HGB,LDH,CRP,and ALB are the factors that affect the survival of patients with colon cancer. The differences of HGB/LDH/CRP between left-sided and right-sided colon cancer patients was statistically significant, which may further explain the difference of survival between left-sided and right-sided colon cancers.
