| ObjectiveTo understand the level of knowledge and skills, training status and previous knowledge acquisition approach and the influencing factors of first-aid in preschool education workers of Huaihua city and to explore the effect of KAP training model. To provide guarantee for improving the first-aid ability of preschool education workers and reducing the accidental injuries of preschool children.Methods266 preschool education workers in 8 preschool institutions were selected randomly by cluster sampling method for questionnaire investigation, using self-designed “First aid knowledge for children and training needs questionnaire”.The training schedule was made on this basis,72 staffs of 2 kindergartens were enrolled to be trainers by cluster sampling method.38 staffs(controlled group)in one kindergarten were trained by traditional model,34 staffs(intervention group)in the other group were trained by KAP model. All trainees accepted “First aid knowledge for children and training needs questionnaire” survey and skills assessment(Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and treatments for airway obstruction)1months after the training. Results Cross-sectional investigation(1)The average score of first aid knowledge of preschool teachers is 11.33±2.03,attitude score is 24.29±3.10.(2)Knowledge and attitude scores are significantly different among the trainees of different ages, occupations, working ages and marital status(P < 0.05);There was no significant difference between the preschool teachers of different professional background and educational background(P > 0.05).(3)The top 3 ways for preschool educators to gain knowledge is daily life experience(78.5%),books(76.3%),network(62.5%).(4)The fever, skin abrasions is the most common childhood emergency.Intervention study(1)After the training, knowledge score, attitude score and scores in theory of the intervention group are 15.76 ± 2.23,34.12 ± 2.17 and 49.88 ± 2.66.Knowledge score, attitude score and scores in theory of the control group is 13.79 ± 2.49,30.18 ± 2.38 and 43.97 ± 3.83.The knowledge score, attitude score and theoretical scores of two groups were significantly improved compared with the scores before training(P < 0.01).(2)After the training, knowledge, attitude, theories of total cardiopulmonary resuscitation, aerobics, trachea and operation scores of the intervention group [(15.76 ± 2.23),(34.12 ± 2.17),(49.88±2.66),(26.03 ± 2.95),(7.24 ± 0.85),(33.26 ± 3.15)%] were higher than the control group [(13.79 ± 2.49),(30.18 ± 2.38),(43.97 ± 3.83),(21.68 ± 3.70),(5.39 ± 1.24),(27.08 ± 3.82)%],which was statistically significant(P < 0.01).(3)After the training,32 people(94.12%)of the intervention group will do mouth to mouth rescue in need,of which 24 people(68.23%)indicated that rescue motivation is to save life which is considered the obligation of everyone,0 people(0%)will do so because of confidence in their ability to rescue;2 people(5.88%)refuse to conduct mouth rescue and 1(50%)of them is afraid of lack of capacity.Conclusions(1)The professional training should be given to the preschool educators who are lack of knowledge of first aid in children.(2)The KAP training mode can improve preschool educators’ ability in emergency care of children effectively which is better than the traditional training mode and worth promoting.(3)Although the short-term training can improve the ability in emergency care of children effectively,we should also provide the training regularly to remedy preschool educator’ shortcomings of rescue knowledge, attitude and behavior and reduce the risk of children’s emergency. |
