Clinical Study Of The Eight Methods Of Intelligent Turtle Chrono-acupoint Treatment On Spleen And Stomach Weakness Caused Diarrhea-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Objective:The incidence of irritable bowel syndrome is 0.82% to 5.67% in China,which is growing year by year with the increase of living pressure.In the clinical treatment,the incidence of spleen and stomach weakness caused diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome is high,and the therapeutic effectiveness of Eight Methods of Intelligent Turtle is superior compared with those of another acupuncture method.Treating irritable bowel syndrome using acupuncture can avoid the burdens on gastrointestinal tracts caused by drug side effects.This therapy is healthy and green,which is featured with a quick lasting effect without non-toxic side effects and is also worth promoting.In this research,clinical effects of the Eight Methods of Intelligent Turtle chrono-acupoi nt treatment on spleen and stomach weakness caused diarrhea-predominant irrita ble bowel syndrome and those of conventional acupuncture treatment are comp ared using randomized controlled trials.The clinical curative effects and applicat ion values of this therapy are discussed.Thereby we hope to provide more effe ctive therapies for future treatments.Methods:72 criteria conformed patients were randomly grouped into a treatment gro up and a control group,with 36 patients in each group.There were 7 drop-outs in total and 3 in the treatment group and 4 in the control group.Therefore,65 patients with spleen and stomach weakness caused diarrhea-predominant irritablebowel syndrome were studied and analyzed statistically in our research,33 in th e treatment group and 32 in the control group.Treatment group:the Gong sun,Nei guan(the Eight Methods of Intelligent Turtle was chosen).The controlgroup:theGong sun,Nei guan(routine acupuncture method was used).Acupoints such asi ntestinal Da changshu、Tian shu、Shang Juxu、San Yinjiao、Pi Shu、Zu Sanli were added in treating both groups.The acupuncture therapy was performed 10 times for 1 course of treatment;each of the patients was treated for 2 courses.Meanwhile,the therapeutic effects were observed and assessed before and after the treatment.Using the TCM syndrome integral scale and irritable bowel syndr ome specific life quality scale as observation indexes for the patients in groups,scoring scale and curative effect evaluation were performed and analyzed with software SPSS 21.0 before and after the treatment.Results:(1)There are no significance difference in gender,age and course of disease between the patients in the two groups(P>0.05).(2)Before the treatment,there were no statistical significance differences(P>0.05)in the TCM primary and secondary syndromes,and the frequency of requir ed treatment among the patients from the two groups.After the treatment,all the variables mentioned above were statistically significant when comparing the two groups.(3)After treatment,among the 33 cases in the treatment group,10 cases wer e clinically recovered,treatments were significantly and relatively effective in 13 cases and 7 cases respectively while there was no effect on 3 cases.The signifi cant effective rate is 69.70% and the overall effective rate is 90.91%.On theoth er hand,among the 32 cases in the treatment group,4 cases were clinically reco vered,and treatments were significantly and relatively effective in 7 cases and 15 cases respectively while there was no effect on 6 cases.The significant effect ive rate is 34.38% and the overall effective rate is 81.25%.For the two groups,the overall efficacy difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05),while the ov erall effective rate was not statistically significant(P>0.05).(4)Comparisons within the two groups before and after treatment:there were significant differences in the assessments on the extents of diarrhea,anorexia,abdominal distension,abdominal pain,abdominal distension,exhaustion,weakness oflimbs,fatigue,sallow complexion when comparing within the two groups before and after treatment,the total integral is highly significantly different(P<0.01).(5)Comparisons between the two groups after treatment:there were significa nt differences in the assessments on the extents of diarrhea,anorexia,abdominal distension,abdominal pain,abdominal distension,exhaustion,weakness of limbs,fatig ue,sallow complexion when comparing the two groups before and after treatme nt,the total integral is highly significantly different(P<0.01).(6)There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in various specific dimensional items of life quality scale when comparing the patients in the two groups before treatment.The Eight Methods of Intelligent Turtle chrono-acupoint therapy is superior to traditional acupuncture in mitigating symptoms.There is a significant difference in various specific dimensional scores of life scale when comparing the patients from the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:(1)It is effective to treat spleen and stomach weakness caused diarrhea-pre dominant irritable bowel syndrome using the Eight Methods of Intelligent Turtl e chrono-acupoint therapy or the routine acupuncture.(2)The overall efficacy of the treatment group treated with the Eight Meth ods of Intelligent Turtle chrono-acupoint therapy is superior to that of the contr ol group treated with the conventional acupuncture.The significant effective rate of the treatment group is higher than that of the control group,while the total effective rates in both groups are similar.(3)Various specific dimensional items of life quality scale of the patients with irritable bowel syndrome treated with the Eight Methods of Intelligent Tur tle chrono-acupoint therapy are as follows:dysthymia,behavioral disorders,self image,health concerns,anorexia,the improvement of the social functions,sexual beha viors,the development of interpersonal relations,which are superior to those of conventional acupuncture control group,showing that the life quality of the pati ents in treatment group is better when compared with those in control group.(4)As a non-drug therapy,acupuncture has definite therapeutic effects and would allevia te the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome significantly.It has many advantages such as simplicity of operation,remarkable curative effects,rare adverse reaction,safety and reliability However,the Eight Methods of Intelligent Turtle chrono-acupoint therapy is better than the conventional acupuncture,the worth of clinical application.
