ObjectivesTo compare the effect of applying acupuncture method on both distal and proximal points on Low back pain patient with only on proximal points. We hypothesized that acupuncture method on both distal and proximal points will be reduce and subside the pain more than that only on proximal points and more effective in treating non-specific chronic low back pain patients.MethodTotal 14 patients who had met the inclusion criteria were invited to participate in the study. The participants were randomized divided into two groups, proximal group(PG)and proximal + distal group(PDG).The patients in the PG group(n=7)were given acupuncture on acupoints including BL-25,BL-26 and EX-B2(Huatuojiaji L3-L5),followed by tiger-dragon needling method. The patients(n=7)in PDG were given acupuncture on acupoints BL-25,needling method. We use visual analogue scale(VAS)method to evaluate low back pain.ResultsIn VAS changing section, the percentage of alteration in every group and each treatment were absolutely different.Afte.r the first session(1d),the VAS decreased 56.9%in PDG,whereas in PG it was 48.3%,so these changes show us that, there is not any significant alterations among two groups(P>0.05).The second treatment(3d)was done and the VAS in PDG reduced 82%,while in PG it was 47%.There was no significant changes between two groups(P>0.05).Finally after third session(5d),the VAS reduction in PDG were 89%but in PG were only 51%(P<0.01).ConclusionThe clinical effect of acupuncture method on both distal and proximal points increases with the number of treatments and is better than that on proximal points in 7 days.
