The Implication Of Gile’s “Comprehension Equation” For Interpreting Learners-A Report On The Simulated Interpretation Of Premier Li Keqiang’s Press Conference(2015)

Daniel Gile’s comprehension equation is an important theory in the field of interpreting, and the equation clearly shows the process of understanding and the energy distribution in the process of understanding, making significant contributions to the study of interpretation. The comprehension equation is KL + EKL + A, namely, Comprehension = Knowledge of the language + Extra-linguistic knowledge + Deliberate analysis, so the understanding ability of interpreters is critical to the quality of interpretation.This is a simulated interpretation practice report, and I choose Li Keqiang’s Press Conference(2015) as the simulated materials. Based on the analysis of the writer’s performance in the simulated interpretation, combing with Gile’s comprehension equation, I analyze the problems in the simulated interpretation and propose the relevant solutions, so this article may have some help to interpreting learners.In the task review, the report mainly focuses on the preparation task before interpretation, the process of interpretation and the analysis after interpretation. In the analysis after interpretation, I mainly apply Gile’s comprehension equation, that is knowledge of the language, extra-linguistic knowledge and deliberate analysis to analyze the problems in the simulated interpretation and propose the relevant solutions. I hope that the simulated interpretation can provide a reference for the interpreting learners.
