| With the development of trade globalization, there have been more and more international exchanges and supports technologically and financially. All these activities need to be carried out with the help of tendering and bidding. Therefore, bidding documents have become a must. According to international practices, all the documents related to the engineering tendering and bidding should be written in English. In this regard, the proper understanding and translation of these related documents turn out to be quite indispensable. This report is based on the engineering bidding document translation practice given by the translation institute during the author’s internship. It introduces the essence and characteristics of translating engineering bidding document, and discusses the principle of accuracy in light of functional stylistics with authentic examples in order to put forward corresponding translation methods. Functional stylistics is able to deal with the text from a new perspective, which is close to the essence of translating engineering bidding document and can help the author reach a dynamic reproduction of the source text. The final purpose of the paper is to present what the author have learned from this translation activity. |
