With the global economic integration and the development of cooperation between nations,the number of people going abroad is increasing.The bright prospect of international nursing market provides good opportunities for Chinese nursing students.So,in resent years,many secondary vocational schools set up a new program,international nursing.The primary standard of a qualified international nurse is to master both professional nursing skills and English skills.Some secondary vocational schools attach great importance to the cultivation of English listening and speaking abilities.However,some disadvantages make it difficult to teach English in secondary vocational school,the low English level of students,the shortage of teaching resources.There are also some problems in curriculum provision,the teaching method,teaching management.This research from analyzing the current situation of the cultivation of students' English listening and speaking abilities and also the teaching and learning situation,under the theoretical direction of ESP,studies the strategies on cultivating the abilities of English listening and speaking,in order to improve the listening and speaking teaching quality and cultivate the English listening and speaking abilities.In the processing of the study,I used the research methods of a questionnaire survey,testing of students,interviews of students.based on the analyses of the survey and one semester of teaching experiments,I discovered out some problems existing in the teaching of English listening and speaking,and then put forward some strategies on teaching and training.The research took students from two different classes respectively in majors of Nursing and International Nursing in Heilongjiang Linye College of Health Professions.In the testing class,English teaching was divided into listening,speaking reading and writing.Improve the teaching strategy in curriculum provision,teaching management,interest cultivating and intercultural communication.Whereas in the comparing class,I still use traditional public English teaching methods.The conclusion prove that the students' English listening and speaking abilities have improved a lot and the teaching and training methods adopted in this research are very effective.
