With the promulgation of the New English Curriculum Standards by the Ministry of Education in 2011,more and more educators have paid their attention to the improvement of students' listening and speaking abilities.However,the English teaching practice in junior middle schools is not satisfactory under the influence of the traditional teaching model.In this study,after exploring the reasons why English listening and speaking teaching is not satisfactory in junior middle schools,and on the basis of the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of Go for it and Family Album U.S.A.,the author puts forward the suggestion of integrating the two types of textbooks,and then applying the integration to the cultivation of Junior Grade Two English listening and speaking capacity-building to enhance students' listening and speaking abilities.In this study,the students from two classes whose listening and speaking skills are almost at the same level selected from Grade Two in a middle school in Ziyang City,Sichuan Province were taken as the study subjects.The author took as a single experimental variable whether the teaching materials were integrated in classroom teaching.In the experimentalprocess,the author collected the data of students' listening test scores in the three stages of the experiment and made comparative analysis.At the same time,the author adopted the questionnaire survey method to investigate students' listening and speaking abilities,and their ability and interest in English learning.Finally,the author analyzed the data of the pre-test,post-test and questionnaires by Z-test.The statistical analysis of the experimental data shows that textbook integration can not only improve students' listening and speaking abilities effectively,but also stimulate students' interest in and arouse their enthusiasm for English learning.
