The Influence Of Emotional Display Rules For Anxiety: The Regulating Effect Of Emotional Labor Strategy

The concept of emotional labor is mentioned by Hoehschil's business management research,which is about the process of individual adjust,experience and express their emotion by the organization.After Morris and Feldman propose an emotional labor model in 1996,scholars start to working with their emotional labor quantification research.Request and strategy are involved in emotional labor.This research is studying the emotional display rules(Regularity dimension of the emotional labor request)and anxiety impact by the emotional labor strategy using experiment control method based on pervious researches.The emotional display rules are include the positive display rule and negative display rule.The emotional labor strategy include deep behavior and superficial behavior.Two parts are discussed in this research.The first research discuss the influence of anxiety by the emotional display rules by controlling the emotional display rules.The results indicate that different levels of anxiety can be generated by different emotional display rules.The negative display rules group will generate much more anxiety emotion than positive display rule group and controlled group.The positive display rule group and controlled group will generate similar level of anxiety emotion.The second research investigate the regulating effect of emotional labor strategy for the relationship between emotional display rules and anxiety by adding the emotional labor strategy as the independent variable.The results indicate that the interaction between emotional display rules and emotional labor strategy is obvious,and the emotional labor strategy paly a regulating effect role between emotional display rules and anxiety.When applied superficial behavior strategy,there is no obvious difference in anxiety level between different emotional display rule groups.When applied deep behavior strategy,different emotional display rule groups demonstrate significant difference in anxiety variation.Besides,negative display rule group have a greater increase in anxiety emotion than other groups.
