A Report On Translation Of Developing Hainan-ASEAN Multilateral Economic And Trade Relations And Promoting The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road And Regional Prosperity

The translation project is taken from the Collection of Essays on the Third Forum of China (Guangdong-Hainan) Reform and Innovation, an article entitled Developing Hainan-ASEAN Multilateral Economic and Trade Relations and Promoting the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and Regional Prosperity, which was written by Xu Xinhua and was published in 2014. In the article, the author discusses the economic development of Hainan and ASEAN and puts forward the development strategies that keep pace with the times in order to call on both sides to seize the opportunities brought about by the building of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the national strategy of constructing Hainan International Tourism Island, and to join hands to build the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to achieve regional prosperity. The report analyzes some difficulties and problems encountered when translating this article, and some related solutions are offered from the perspective of Relevance Translation Theory.The report consists of five chapters: Chapter One is the introduction, which briefly introduces this translation project and its significance. Chapter Two gives a further description of the contents of the work and the preparation work before translation,including the source of the text, the analysis of the text and the preparation for the translation. Chapter Three elaborates on the Relevance Theory, which includes the basic ideas and some concepts of the Relevance Theory. Chapter Four focuses on analyzing some difficulties and problems appeared in the translating process of the work and discussing specific translation strategies based on the Relevance Theory. Chapter Five concludes with the translation experience and points out that this report still has some weaknesses to improve in the future.
