Research On The Harmony Technique Of Hindemith In The Symphony Matthias The Painter

As one of the most influential German composers in the first half of the 20^th century,Paul Hindemith was a representative figure of neo-classicism music with multiple identities including a composer,musicologist,conductor and educator.In the meanwhile,he was praised as“Bach in the 20^th century”and“an excellent composer among composers”.He had very extensive forms of musical creation,such as symphonies,piano music,concertos,chamber music,operas and string quartets.In addition,he made considerable achievements in music theory.His music work The Craft of Musical Composition was one of the most influential textbooks on composition theory in the 20^th century and made very important contributions to the field of modern harmony.Hindemith's self-contained harmony theory not only occupied a very important position in his works,but also had guiding significance to other musical creation and work study.This paper takes the symphony Matthias the Painter as the research object and Hindemith's harmony theory as the main research method,concludes and teases his harmony theory,attempts to figure out the general rule of Hindemith's self-contained harmony system in the application of actual works and hopes to provide certain reference significance to study the harmony theory of Hindemith and analyze his other works.The first chapter focuses on carefully teasing and sorting out the basic harmony theory of Hindemith while introducing the creation experience and creation of Hindemith by stages.The second chapter comprehensively summarizes and sums up the creation background and characteristics of Hindemith's symphony Matthias the Painter.This paper mainly lays a foundation for the main body?the third,fourth and fifth chapters?of research on the harmony technique of Hindemith while mastering the macroscopic outline of his work in the first two chapters.The third,fourth and fifth chapters mainly study the layout of two-voice framework,the arrangement of harmony fluctuations and the processing of tonality.It is hoped to learn about the application of Hindemith's harmony theory in actual creation more deeply through this research.In the conclusion part,the author further teases and summarizes the creation concept and techniques of Hindemith.
