The Relationships Among Perfectionism,Interpersonal Problem And Depression Of College Students

The purposes of the present study were to investigate the relationships among perfectionism,interpersonal problem and depression of college students.Survey research was used in this study.depression were measured by A Short Form of the Inventory of Interpersonal Problems Circumplex Scales(ⅡP-SC),Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(FMPS),The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale(CES-D).This study is consisted of pilot study and formal study.The purposes of pilot study were to translate and revise ⅡP-SC,and to test the reliability and validity of FMPS and CES-D,and to explore the relationship between the three variables using Bootstrap method.Convenience sampling method was used,subjects are college students who come from three universities in GuiLin.660 college students finish the administration.647 questionnaires were collected,collected rate was 98.0%;614 effective questionnaires were collected,effective rate was 94.9%;among them were 228 men,381 women and gender missing rate was 0.8%.In formal study,Based on the results of pilot study,the relationship between variables was verified by structural equation modeling.Path analysis was used to further examine the role of interpersonal problems in dimensions of maladaptive perfectionism and depression.Convenience sampling method was used,subjects are college students who come from three universities in GuiLin.921 college students finish the administration.912 questionnaires were collected,collected rate was 99.0%;853 effective questionnaires were collected,effective rate was 93.5%;among them were 237men,611 women and gender missing rate was 0.6%.The main results are as follows:1.The a coefficients of ⅡP-SC,FMPS,CES-D and their sub-scale are between.52～.89,the fit indices of CFA:x2/df are 3.41,4.78,3.20 respectively,RMSEA are 06,.08,.06 respectively,NNFI are.93,.88,.95 respectively,CFI are.94,.89,.96 respectively,IFI are.94,.85,.96 respectively,GFI are.87,.85,.92 respectively,the reliability and validity of ⅡP-SC,FMPS and CES-D all reach the standard of psychometrics.2.Adaptive perfectionism has statistically significant negative effect on depression.3.Interpersonal problem partial mediates the effect of maladaptive perfectionism on depression statistically significantly.Maladaptive perfectionism has statistically significant positive effect on depression and interpersonal problem.4.Concern over mistakes of maladaptive perfectionism dimension have statistically significant positive effect on interpersonal problem and depression.Interpersonal problem partial mediates the effect of concern over mistakes on depression statistically significantly5.Doubting of actions of maladaptive perfectionism dimension have statistically significant positive effect on interpersonal problem.Interpersonal problem mediates the effect of doubting of actions on depression statistically significantly.
