A Translation Project Report On Articles Of Association Of Yunnan Baiyao Group Co.,Ltd.

With the booming of Chinese legal system construction,legal translation is becoming increasingly significant in foreign communication and trade.The thesis,with the guide of Sarcevic’s legal translation theory,aims to provide an overview of the questions concerned in translating legal text cased by the translation of Articles of Association of Yunnan Baiyao Group Co.,Ltd.as well as solutions to these questions.From the perspective of Sarcevic,legal translation is not only simple linguistic transcoding but an act of communication within the mechanism of the law(Sarcevic,1997).Therefore,the translator,besides understanding the meanings of words and sentences,should take the legal effect of original text into consideration.In addition,Sarcevic has made a specific description about terminological incongruency.She analyzed its causes and put forward specific solutions.There are mainly four parts in the translation report.In the first chapter,there is an introduction about the translation task and the original text.In the second chapter,there is a description of the translation process.In the third chapter,there is specific case analysis based on the theory guiding the translation practice.The translator tries to explore the translation of terminologies and long sentences of legal text.In the last chapter,there is a summary of the translation practice in terms of the translator’s linguistic skill and specialty,interdisciplinary awareness and project management as well as ability of mastering ICT.The translation practice is of great significance as follows:Firstly,legal translation is of great significance in promoting legal communication,foreign trade and international cooperation of China.Secondly,Sarcevic’s legal translation theory provides a relatively ideal perspective for legal translation in terms of terminology,syntax and writing styles.Last but not least,the case analysis of the thesis provides reference for legal translation to some extent.In a word,the practice is a meaningful attempt in translating legal text.
