A Contrastive Analysis Of The Semantics Of “老” And “老X”

After consulting the Chinese national standard simplified Chinese character set(GB2312-80),according to the "老" word frequency,in the most commonly used Chinese characters ranks 112.It is also because the word " 老" in the use of high frequency and can be flexible to fabric with other Chinese characters,words,has the academic research on "老" words from both the breadth and depth have reached a level of understanding.In general,many scholars have studied its grammaticalization process and the semantic color,but few articles in Chinese "老" and "old" in English are compared,so this paper will do some comparison between Chinese and English on exploration and research on the basis of "老" words,grammar and pragmatics.This paper is divided into five chapters,through reading,analysis and research of the " 老 X" Chinese word collection of senior scholars,the " 老 X" structure is classified as the research object,mainly from the following aspects,of " 老 X" structure.The first chapter is the introduction,the research object is identified,the research status at home and abroad is summarized,and the content of this paper is studied.The second chapter of the " 老 X" Chinese words are classified,respectively,"X" as adjectives,adverbs and nouns,such as the semantic situation;The third chapter through the systematic analysis,exhaustive Chinese in the "老" and "old" in English each item one by one,from the Chinese and English comparison theory based on Chinese and English text,the English language and psychological aspects on the comparison for instance;The fourth chapter analyzes the development and changes of the "老 X" structure in the near and modern Chinese period,and the new usage of "老 X" structure in the new period;The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which summarizes the whole paper and points out the shortcomings of this paper.
