Report On The Translation Of The Mansion Of Magic Cube

The report is based on the translation of The Mansion of Magic Cube written by famous Chinese children literature writer Zheng Yuanjie.The book tells a story of the protagonist Laike's adventure into 26 block countries after entering a mansion of magic cube.Beside the imaginative and lively plot,it also bears profound education value,which will exert positive influence upon children readers.To translate the book,apart from being loyal to the original text,recreate the vivid and beautiful language is of paramout importance because the book is written for children.What's more,the writer uses many devices to attract readers,like idioms,songs,poems,which make the translation more challenging.Basically,paraphrasing is used to tackle these difficulties when literal translation may mislead readers or reduce readability too much.Parallel texts like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,Through the Looking-Glass were chosen to better the translation.This practice report consists of two parts: the first is to translate the selected book on the basis of analysis and reference of parallel texts.In the second part,the author of this report discusses some problems during the translation and the strategies by which they are solved.Through this project,I hope,on the one hand,to improve my translation skills,especially in mastering the language,translation theories and strategies of children literature;on the other hand,to devote my portion of strength into China's culture communication cause.
