Reading, a way in which people can obtain information, gain knowledge and know the world, is the most important learning activities. With the rapid development of the information age, a lot of knowledge is cropping up. Therefore people must master a new way of learning to understand them quickly. Chinese education is more important for the cultivation of reading ability, especially in primary school. Although reading teaching has been given priority on our country's Chinese education in primary school, its situation is worrying. Mind map, a mean of organizational thinking, conforms the rule of human thinking, helps people to think and formulate their thoughts, effectively improves the efficiency of teaching and provides a new way of thinking.Relevant studies have indicated that Mind map is helpful to reading activity. In this study, Mind map is applied to the teaching of Chinese reading in the high grade of primary school, the applied tactics of Mind map are designed and chosen, and the effect of the tactics is verified through the teaching practice.This thesis has four parts. The first part mainly discusses the reason for the topic, and the research's purpose, significance, content and methods. The second part is the foundation of the study. With the literature review, it introduces Mind map and its application in education, especially in the field of reading. It also recommends something about the Chinese reading teaching and analyses the application of Mind map. In the third part, the tactics which are applied to the vocabulary learning and the content of text learning are designed based on the theoretical basis and application principles. This paper focuses on the tactics of Mind map in the study of the contents of the article, that is, the deductive divergent tactics, the inductive convergent tactics and the progressive link tactics. The last one is practice of application strategy. The author chooses four representative practical teaching cases, and makes detailed analysis on them.Through the practical test, this study draws the following conclusions. First, teachers and students recognize the application of mind map in the teaching of Chinese reading. Second, the mind map is helpful for students to learn new words. Third, the deductive divergent tactics, the inductive convergent tactics and the progressive link tactics of mind map are conducive to learning the deductive, inductive and recitative content of Chinese reading. Last, the mind map in teaching of Chinese reading for the high grade in primary school helps to improve students' reading ability.
