On The Cultivation Strategies Of English Communicative Competence With The Rural-Urban Pupils

The communicative competence in speaking English of the rural pupils in China is comparatively weak,which is a big obstacle to the pupils of their development of comprehensive language ability.The teachers found that some students hadn't the confidence to or couldn't express their opinions or feelings fluently when communicating in English,as a result,they are less and less interested in English.And that makes the “On the Cultivation Strategies of Communicative Competence with the Rural Pupils in Speaking English” meaningful.This thesis adopted case study method,taking Hongqiao Primary School of Gaoxin Destrict,Changsha for example.The teachers(including the author)gave an oral English test to the students from Grade Three to Grade Six,and they found that the communicative competence in speaking English of the pupils in this school is comparatively weak,such as un-standard pronunciation,incorrect tone,incomplete sentences,lacking of confidence,thinking in Chinese,and so on.They also found that the reasons focus on their low teaching ability,closed language environment and the emotional obstacles of the students.In order to improve the communicative competence of the rural pupils in speaking English,something has to be done to improve the teaching ability,clear the emotional obstacles,open the languageenvironment.Hoping the summary can be useful to the improvement communication competence of the rural pupils.
