The Research On The Correlation Between Subjective Well-Being Of College Students And Materialistic Values

From ancient times,people's discussion of the topic of happiness never stopped.Today subjective well-being is a hot spot in the field of positive psychology,which refers to the overall assessment of the quality of life by the evaluator according to the established criteria.Enhancing the level of college students 'subjective well-being has an important role of cultivating college students' sound personality,promoting the mental health of college students and achieving the comprehensive development of college students.In recent years,with the development of market economy,the invasion of capitalism and the influence of East and West cultural thoughts,materialistic values are also quietly popular.As a kind of value,materialistic values are influencing the formation of correct values of college students.Establishing the correct material concept has a positive effect on the healthy growth of college students.It can be seen that the subjective well-being and materialistic values of the study have important influence on the healthy development of college students' physical and mental health,but the specific relationship influence between them needs further data research and demonstration.In order to study the relationship between subjective well-being and materialistic values of college students,this study is based on the domestic and foreign research results,combined with the concrete reality of our country,used Jianhua Duan revised the "overall well-being scale" and Jing Li and Yongyu Guo revised "materialist values scale" as a research tool,adopted cluster sampling,and selected 1158 college students of the top ten institutions like the Guangxi Normal University,Guangxi Art Institute,Guangxi Teachers Education University,Guilin University of Electronic Technology,Guilin University of Aerospace Technology,Bowen College of Guilin University of Technology,Lijiang College of Guangxi Normal University,Yulin Teachers College,Hezhou University and Guangxi Normal University for Nationalities as a survey object to collect data.This paper analyzes data with the social science statistics software SPSS21.0,and puts forward the suggestions to establish the correct materialistic values of college students from the four aspects of the national society,universities,families and college students in order to enhance the level of subjective well-being.Through the difference test,the correlation analysis and the regression analysis of college students' subjective well-being and materialistic values,the following conclusions are drawn:1.The overall mean of college students' subjective well-being is 73.51,which is higher than the national norm.Among them,the concerns about health,energy,satisfaction with life and interest,depression or pleasant mood,emotional and behavioral control and relaxation and anxiety of the six factors are 6.31,18.37,6.72,15.47,11.65,and 14.99.The factor score of energy is the highest,but the factor score about health is the lowest.This shows that the current college students are still more dynamic,passionate,but the physical quality may be poor.Therefore they are worried about health.In terms of demographic variables,there are significant differences in the emotional and behavioral control factors,different sexes,different monthly living expenses,different subjective well-being of college students,and satisfaction and interest in life(P<0.05).There are significant differences in the satisfaction factors and interests of life and the control factors of emotion and behavior in college students of different sources and whether the only child(P<0.05).There are significant differences in college students' subjective well-being overall and depressed or pleasant mood factors in different grades,different professions and different family types(P<0.05).There are no significant differences in the subjective well-being and the factors between the part-time and not part-time college students(P>0.05).There are significant differences in the satisfaction and interest factors of different fathers in degree(P<0.05).2.The overall mean value of college student materialism is 35.32,which is lower than the standard mean of 39.Among them,the factor score of the property success,access to the center and achieving happy was 15.73,12.63 and 6.96.The factor score of property success is the highest,but the factor score of achieving happiness is the lowest,which indicates that the current college students believe that wealth and material ownership is a sign of success.In terms of demographic variables,there are significant differences between the different sexes and whether or not part-time college students are getting happy factors.(p<0.05);There are significant differences in between the two factors in the materialistic values of the overall and access to the center and achieving happiness in college students of different sources,whether the only child,different monthly living expenses and different parents educated(P<0.05);There are significant differences in the overall values of materialistic values and their factors in different grades and different professions(P<0.05).There are no significant differences in the overall values of materialism between college students of different family types(P>0.05).3.There is a significant negative correlation between college students 'subjective well-being and overall materialistic values,which indicates that the tendencies of college students'materialistic values are more obvious and their subjective well-being is lower.The explanatory rate of subjective well-being is 7.1%,which indicates that the change of subjective well-being of college students is affected by the change of materialism.College students' subjective well-being,the satisfaction of life and the interest,depression or pleasant mood,the control of emotions and behavior,and the relaxation and anxiety of the five factors are negatively correlated with the values of materialistic values;There is a significant positive correlation between health concerns factors and achieving happiness factors;there is no correlation between health concerns and materialistic values overall and property success factors.The three factors are the predictors of subjective well-being,and the explanatory rate of subjective well-being is 9.0%.There are linear regression relations between college students 'subjective well-being,and their explanations for college students' subjective well-being are 2.1%,5.1%and 7.6%respectively.
