English writing skill reflects not only high school students? overall language skills,but also students? language communication level.Because of the differences in thinking and expressing between English and Chinese,high school students are to be influenced by Chinese in the course of English acquisition inevitably.The manifestation of negative transfer of first language is very obvious in writing,which has been one of the main influences in improving high school students? English writing skill.This study aims to do the research on the errors appearing in English writing productions of high school students from the view of negative transfer of mother language.This research took students from Grade 2 in Ganzhou No.1 High School in Ganzhou,Jiangxi province as the subjects,making questionnaires and taking their compositions as samples to analyze errors appearing in high school students' writing.And this research sorted these errors out,counted and analyzed them,and finally further proved that high school students are indeed influenced by the interference of Chinese in the English writing process.Statistics showed that errors produced by negative transfer of mother language in students? writing mainly reflected in vocabulary,morphology,syntax and discourse and other aspects.According to each kind of error,teachers did teaching research on students focusing on negative transfer of mother language and have given a large number of typical examples.Besides,researchers counted,analyzed and compared the quantity of this kind of error appearing before and after teaching to find out the reasons causing errors.And they finally concluded that teachers should have a clear aim from morphology,syntax and passage structure aspects when teaching writing so that it can practically decrease errors produced by negative transfer of mother language in high school students' writing.Applying appropriate teaching strategies can reach the purpose of improving English writing skill.
