Writing is an output of the language,and it plays an important role in English teaching in senior high school.At the same time,as one of the basic skills of the language,it also reflects the comprehensive language competence of the learners.In the current English writing teaching,many front-line teachers express their confusion on process approach and lacks theoretical guidance,causing a phenomenon that the writing teaching is seldom caught enough attention on or even overlooked.From the current situation of English writing teaching,this study mainly employs process approach to the writing teaching.Process approach can promote the students' English writing ability from the many aspects by changing their passive writing,improving poor expressions,and strengthening the implementation of feedback and evaluation.Based on the significance of English writing teaching,this study will explore the specific implementation and application of the writing mode.The author has read a lot of relevant literature and data,and has a better understanding of its concept,features and implementation mode.Under the guidance of the research both in domestic and overseas,combining the teaching practice,the author refined the stage of revision,found and solved the problems occurring in the assessment when the students wrote.The author used the methods of questionnaires,tests and interview to conduct an experiment which lasted four months.The author carried out the questionnaire for pre-test,pre-test,post-test,and the questionnaire for post-test.An interview was also conducted after the experiment.Every relevant data and the content were carefully collected after the operation.Meanwhile,the author dealt with the data and made an analysis with SPSS19.0 and Microsoft Excel,and the responses to the interview were also summarized.All of these aim to verify the effectiveness of process approach to English writing teaching.This study attempts to address the following two problems: 1.How can process approach be applied to the English writing teaching in senior high school? 2.What isthe influence of process approach on the students' writing ability in senior high school?According to the teaching practice,the author applied the seven-step method to the writing teaching.That is pre-writing,writing,revision,second draft,evaluation,editing and post-writing.Pre-writing is made up of lead-in and sample reading;writing includes making an outline,inputting expressions and writing first draft;revision mainly consists of self-editing and peer-editing;second draft absorbs the feedback and is ready for handing in;evaluation is composed of the face-to-face evaluation from the teacher and the whole class evaluation;and post-writing is a platform for displaying personal products which can be in various forms.After the collecting,processing,analyzing and summarizing of the experimental data,the author found out that a number of activities in the application of process approach changed the students' attitude towards writing,and the problems in the whole writing process could be solved effectively.More than 90 percent of the students approved of process approach,and most of them had a good command of the structure,and more than 80 percent of them could express the ideas freely.Moreover,the average scores of the post-test in the experimental class were higher than the pre-test scores by 2.77,which were also 1.26 scores higher than the controlled class.At the same time,the number of H group increased from 4 to 30,while L group decreased to only one.Process approach refined the writing process and promoted the students' writing ability from the structure,language,content and evaluation and so on.In conclusion,the seven-step method of process approach can enrich the writing process and improved the effect of evaluation.It can also enhance the students' English writing ability from many aspects.Process approach provides a reference for the front-line teachers on English writing teaching.Of course,there also exist some challenges in the process of application,which also need to be solved in the future research.
