ObjectionTo observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Low Resistance Thought Induction Psychotherapy(TIP)combined with Xi Le Ning Granule in treating mild to moderate depression of liver qi stagnation and spleen deficiency pattern and provide an effective treatment method for the clinical therapy of depression.MethodIn this study,69 patients diagnosed with mild to moderate depression in the psychology department of Guanganmen Hospital,China Academy of traditional Chinese medicine were randomly divided into two groups. One group is orally treated with Xi Le Ning Granule, the controlled group, once a day for 8 weeks. While the other group is treated with TIP based on the Xi Le Ning Granule, the treatment group. The TIP takes us 40-50 minutes to treat the patients, each patient with twice a week.We observed the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Five states Personality Inventory, and Beck Depression Inventory(BDI)before and after treatment in each group to research the clinical efficacy and evaluated the safety by recording the laboratory examination.ResultsThere was no significant difference among age, gender, course and cultural degree of baseline, which was comparable(P>0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was 90%,which is better than the controlled group, the total effective rate 74.2%,P<0.05.1 Depression Scale scores1.1 Comparison between groupsThrough the t test, scores of the HAMD、HAMA、BDI showed differences since the 4th week(P<0.05),and the discrepancy superiority continued to the 8th week, especially the HAMA scores, showing significant difference,P<0.01.Meanwhile,improvement of anxiety symptoms in treatment group is better.1.2 Within Group ComparisonsAccording to the treatment group(TIP with Xi Le Ning Granule group),there were remarkably change of HAMD、HAMA、BDI scores both in 4w and 8w,P<0.01.On the other hand, the controlled group showed no significant difference in 4w(P>0.05),and the scores changed significantly in 8w,P<0.05.The treatment group has an advantage on the onset time.2 Five states Personality Inventory Comparisons2.1 Comparison between groupsThrough the t test,Shaoyin and Taiyin scores of the two groups showed difference in 8w,(P<0.05).2.2 Within Group ComparisonsThere were significant difference in both of the Taiyin scores between two groups after the treatment in 8w(P<0.05).Also,the Shaoyin scores of the treatment group improved in 8w,P<0.05.Symptoms of both groups was markedly improved, while the treatment group is better in changing personality than Chinese medicine only.Conclusion1.Combination of Low Resistance Thought Induction Psychotherapy(TIP)and Xi Le Ning Granule can significantly improve the symptoms, like depression, anxiety and other undesirable mood,of patients with mild to moderate depression of liver qi stagnation and spleen deficiency pattern, the same to the single-use of Xi Le Ning Granule.2.Combination of Low Resistance Thought Induction Psychotherapy(TIP)and Xi Le Ning Granule works faster and is better than single-use of Xi Le Ning Granule.3.Combination of Low Resistance Thought Induction Psychotherapy(TIP)and Xi Le Ning Granule has a better effect on improvement of the anxiety in the depression than single-use of Xi Le Ning Granule.4.Combination of Low Resistance Thought Induction Psychotherapy(TIP)and Xi Le Ning Granule has a impact on Shaoyin and Taiyin scores by improving clinical symptoms of depression. While Xi Le Ning Granule has a impact on Taiyin score.5.Combination of Low Resistance Thought Induction Psychotherapy(TIP)and Xi Le Ning Granule had good security in clinical application.
