2015 Weihai Municipal Government Work Report Alternate Interpretation Practice Report

As is known to all, the government work report is not only an important document for the development of the city, but also a work review of the previous year, and a work arrangement for the next year. With the deepening of the reform and opening up to the outside world, the exchanges between China and other countries are becoming more frequent. As a result, the translation of the report attracts the attention both at home and abroad. Surrounded by the sea on three sides,Weihai is located in the east of Shandong peninsula, the unique location shaping it the forefront of opening-up to the outside world. Therefore, the interpreting of the report is of great importance for the government to appeal to investments.This is an interpreting practice report based on the government work report of Weihai,2015 and the report consists of four parts, the first part is the description of the interpreting task, including the introduction to the related information, the purpose and significance of the interpreting practice. The second part is interpreting process including pre-task preparation, mainly about the preparation for glossaries, and the preparation in psychological and physical aspects, the real process of interpreting and the post self-evaluation. The third part is interpreting skills, the thesis discusses and analysizes the translation skills in terms of abbreviations, as well as long sentences and non-subject sentences. The last part is conclusion, through the task description and case analysis, the thesis has illustrated the importance of pre-task preparation and guiding principles for interpreting practice in the future.
