A Study Of The Differences In Citizenship Education Between "Utopia" And "Utopia"

Civic paideia is an important topic in Republic and Utopia.Paideia as a core concept includes two aspect:education and nourish(the construction of republic pay more attention on the front and the form of utopia take care of the latter more).But in the past,the academic circles did not make a difference of these two aspects.Therefore,based on the analysis of "education" and“nourish”,not only can conducive to fully grasp the political philosophy of Plato and More,but also deeply description the strong of Republic which represent“king of the public”and Utopia which represent humanism payed more attention on human.The topic of civic paideia should be carried out from the following three aspects:As far as the object of indoctrination is concerned,the object in the book of Republic is not all the national citizens but the elite including the king of philosophy and the guardian.Selection of elite is also identical to the principle—“one person do only his thing "—which is the justice the republic pursue.In contrary of the Republic,the object of indoctrination in Utopia is all the national citizens,and this according with it's concept of governing the state.The concept is "absolutely public ownership”in Utopia.As far as the purpose of indoctrination is concerned,the purpose of the indoctrination of the Republic is to select the king of philosophy.Plato always believed until philosophers become the country's king or kings and dominators to seriously pursue wisdom,in this way will the political rights and wisdom combined.Therefore,the indoctrination of Republic is the means of Plato's philosophy to govern the country.The purpose of the indoctrination of Utopia is to culture men for profession in all the fields,More focus on labor education and the condition of citizens life,so the happiness of civics is the final goal of the ideal country.As far as the content of indoctrination is concerned,paideia includes education and nourish.Republic focuses on the role of education,and Utopia focuses on the role of the nourish more.Plato strictly stipulated all contents of education in his ideal society,from the poems and music style until to the geometry and philosophy.The contents of paideia in Utopia not only focus on education which includes labor,moral and knowledge education,but also focus more on nourish,the paideia theme of Utopia is ethical nourish which reflect in all the aspect in people's life.Comparative study of the differences between the two philosophical works of civic paideia.On one hand,has a clear understanding of the paideia in two works,especially clearly definition the paideia in the Republic.On the other hand,through the difference of civic paideia,can be seen in different historical periods the philosopher to the specific requirements of ideal regime construction,embodied in the ideal government in the implementation of the content of paideia is its philosophy.At the same time,it also shows that paideia is an important condition to maintain the ideal political development.
