In the 19 th century, with the emergence of history as a discipline, ancillary disciplines of history also emerged. In British, the Roman Britain Archaeology was one of them.As the forerunner of the Roman Britain Archaeology, the Antiquity of Rome Britain was founded by William Camden in the 16 th century. After several centuries of evolution, with the efforts of J.P.Gibson,F.Haverfield and F.G.Simpson,Roman Britain Archaeology formed in the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries. After half a century of development, after World War II,an auxiliary discipline eventually became an independent discipline.During this lengthy process,Collingwood played a important role. After Haverfield’s death,Collingwood became the Roman Britain Archaeology leader during the 1920s-1930 s.Haverfield made outstanding contributions to the formation and development of the Roman Britain Archaeology and was therefore hailed as the “Father of Roman Britain Archaeology ” by some archaeologists.Shortly after the end of World War I,Haverfeld left life and Collingwood became the only student of Harvard to teach at Oxford.Collingwood became an archaeologist and could think in three ways: the influence of his father, the influence of a mentor, and the reflected situation of the times.Collingwood’s archaeological achievements arose from the practice of Archeology in accomplishing the unfinished business of Haverfield, including collecting the inscriptions left by the Roman Empire in Britain, summarizing the annual archaeological process and the unearthed British Archaeology, leading and organizing archaeological excavations, and summarizing the archaeology of the past decades,As a result,a major achievement of this effort was the publication of The Archaeology of Rome Britain, which influence can only be compared with that of The Idea of History;from the perspective of archaeology,Collingwood created the type method, constructed the archaeological ideology and made efforts to spread science Archeology.Collingwood summarizes the three principles of archaeology and still affects the Roman Britain Archaeology. In addition to being an outstanding archaeologist,Collingwood is also a philosopher and historian. The archaeological practice of Collingwood exerted a significant influence on the evolution and formation of Collingwood’s philosophy of history, which had a significant impact on the Roman Britain historical research.Collingwood,by virtue of philosophical reflection, explores the transformation of archaeological thought. In the field of philosophy,Collingwood’s archaeological practice had an impact on the development of his philosophy of history. In history,Collingwood used the principle of archaeology to study Roman Britain. With the passage of time, with the development of the times, some of Collingwood’s archaeological thoughts became more important and some appeared out of date.Dialectical treatment of Collingwood’s archaeology thought was also a dialectical view of the reasonable concept of Collingwood’s thought.
