Semiconductor laser is a kind of high quantum efficiency devices,using semiconductor material as a working material,with high stability,small size,low cost,long life,high conversion efficiency and many other advantages.And the range covered in the spectrum is very wide,in addition to the individual infrared band,from the short wavelength region of about 1550 nm to about 600 nm,all commercialization has been achieved,widely used in optical fiber communications,information storage and reading and efficient pumping source and other fields.However,semiconductor lasers are very sensitive to current shocks and are prone to significant effects on output characteristics,and factors such as surges and static electricity can cause damage to the laser.In addition,the current commercial and military semiconductor laser drivers are bulky,expensive,difficult to operate,are not conducive to be taken out for work.Therefore,the design of an intelligent small size,easy to operate,big output current,high current accuracy,good current characteristics,high anti-interference ability,with overcurrent,overvoltage,overheating and other protective measures of the semiconductor laser driver has important practical significance.In this paper,the advantages and disadvantages of semiconductor lasers are described and studied.The driving function of the laser driver is analyzed,including the constant current drive and the constant power drive.Then,the status and development trend of laser driving technology is studied.The technical specifications of the designed driver are determined.The basic theory of semiconductor lasers is elaborated,including working principle,power characteristics and common damage,to provide theoretical guidance for the follow-up circuit test.Researching and designing a complete hardware platform,among them,including the regulator circuit,the laser Constant current drive circuit,laser temperature control circuit and other modules.And the laser drive circuit can achieve stable and adjustable current output,the laser output power stability is controlled within 0.451%,and avoiding the laser from abnormal damage.Finally,after the assembly of the driver is completed and the fault is not checked,loading the butterfly laser to test and analyze the whole drive system.The results show that the driving current and temperature stability are good and the output characteristic of the laser satisfy the P-I curve.The design of the drive can be achieved to meet the requirements,can be applied to all types of research.
