The landslides occurred at Chaoyang country in Songyuan city has affected the safety and production of local dwellers. It is necessary to have better recognition, analysis, assessment of stability and corresponding management measurements. This paper first investigated the engineering geological condition on site of the landslide and analyzed the reasons and mechanics of the occurrence of landslide.According to the on-site evaluation scores from different experts, analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method were applied to analyze the stability of the landslides.Meanwhile the physical and mechanical parameters of the rock were acquired to calculate the coefficient of stability of slope by transmit-coefficient slice method. The main conclusions of the study are as follows: 1)Seismic activity, heavy rainfall, gully development and weak formation are the main factors causing landslide disaster;2)The results of hierarchical analysis-fuzzy comprehensive evaluation show that the landslide is basically stable in the normal situation, but when there is strong rainfall and earthquake, landslide disaster occurs;3)The calculation results show that the earthquake is the main factor of landslide.Because of seismic activity, the potential energy of landslide body has been released partly,it will be in a stable state generally, but it can change to unstable under the weight and heavy rain conditions;4According to the research results,it is considered that the stability of the landslide is poor and the corresponding measures should be taken timely.
