Affected by environmental pollution,energy shortages and other issues,how to achieve sustainable development has been a major problem for human society today.Oceans cover 70.8% of the earth surface,containing huge amounts of mineral,fishery,and other resources,providing essential material support for human's future achievement of sustainable development.Almost all human maritime activities including marine cognition,oceanographic survey,marine engineering,navigation and resource development require a scientific cognition of seabed landform.Different from on-land landform,seabed is covered by seawater,making it non-visual to human,thus increasing the difficulty in seabed cognition understanding.With the development of multi-beam sounding technology,a large number of sounding data have been obtained to form a basic for seabed landform's scientific and full representation.As sounding data is discrete,how to represent seabed landform scientifically on it has been a hot research topic at home and abroad.Meanwhile,the morphology and variation of seabed landforms are different in different regions,thus making seabed landform complexity,one quantitative index for degree of seabed landform complexity,an important factor for almost all maritime activities.However,not enough attentions have been paid to seabed landform complexity,fewer are their results.Faced regular and irregular grid digital depth models,this article introduces the concept of information entropy,proposing the representation and calculation method for the seabed landform complexity,for which the experiments are done on selected sample regions.Results show that the method is not only accurate in representing the degree of seabed landform morphological change,but also simple in computation and implementation.The innovation points of this paper mainly include the following aspects:1.A new representation method for seabed landform complexity is proposed by introducing the concept of information entropy;2.Two kind of calculation models for seabed landform complexity on grid-based data model and irregular triangle net data model are educed;3.Seabed landform complexity of two selected real sample regions are calculated to prove the effectiveness of the method...
