The 3D laser scanning technology establishes a 3D digital model of the virtual world by quickly collecting the 3D data of the object,and transforms the traditional physical measurement into the measurement on the 3D digital model.It is a change in the surveying and mapping idea,and is leading a new technological revolution in the field of surveying and mapping.The development of 3D laser scanning technology has evolved into a variety of products so far,including airborne laser scanning systems,ground 3D laser scanning systems,and portable 3D laser scanning systems.Its fourthgeneration handheld laser scanner has a compact and portable body,high accuracy and high scanning speed.With self-positioning function,you can adjust the scanning posture to complete the scan at any time,and it has a wide range of applications in industrial design,quality inspection,cultural relics protection,reverse engineering,etc.The handheld laser scanner has high accuracy and the Handy SCAN 700 has a ranging accuracy of up to 0.03 mm,but the stability and accuracy of the handheld laser scanner are easily affected by the external environment,such as humidity,temperature,air pressure,etc.And the nominal accuracy is the best level of accuracy measured in a stable laboratory.In the actual use of handheld laser scanners,the level of accuracy has yet to be verified.This will also affect the reliability and confidence of the measurement results of handheld laser scanners.Therefore,it is necessary to test and evaluate the accuracy of handheld laser scanners.However,its measurement mechanism is different from traditional measuring instruments.It cannot be tested by traditional verification methods.Looking for an easy-to-use and repeatable operable experimental solution to test precision on handheld laser scanner are urgent problems that need to be solved.This article provides a comprehensive overview of the handheld laser scanner,including its unique advantages over other 3D laser scanners and the current market situation at home and abroad,and explains the importance and necessity of the accuracy evaluation of the handheld laser scanner.Introduce the relevant working principle of the handheld laser scanner,and combine the working principle and error theory to analyze the sources of error that affect the accuracy of the handheld laser scanner.In order to test the precision of the actual use process,the experiment is designed to test the precision of inner coincidence,volume accuracy and the influence of color and roughness on velocity of scanning.The results show that the precision of inner coincidence of Handy SCAN 700 is high,the volume accuracy is not stable and the accuracy is roughly linearly attenuated with the increase of the continuous scan length,and the velocity of scanning is directly related to the color of the target,but not to the roughness of the target surface.Introduced three application examples of handheld laser scanners: used with highprecision instruments to complete the scanning of large-sized objects,measured feature data of three-dimensional reconstruction of industrial components,and reverse engineered typical small-sized objects such as the total station handle.Combined with practical application scenarios,the use skills and post-processing related methods of handheld laser scanner are introduced.
