Automatic fiber placement(AFP)is the key technology to manufacture all types of composites which have a complex surface.It has been widely used in the field of aerospace and so on in developed countries,and the research of AFP has been explored actively in China although there is a wide gap with foreign countries.The research of AFP need a large number of verification of the theoretical research results and production performance.So it's particularly important to build a platform which is efficient,flexible,efficient and energy-saving.Virtual Manufacturing(VM)technology has been widely used in various industries with the development of the information technology.The AFP virtual experimental platform which is built based on VM has the advantages of high efficiency,low risk,no less raw material consumption and energy consumption to verify the relevant research results of the different stages of the technology of AFP.The key device of AFP——AFP head based on VR(Virtual Reality)is mainly researched in this paper.One of the key contents of AFP virtual experimental platform is to achieve parameterized drive of the VR model of AFP head.The main content of this paper include:The structure of AFP head is designed and built according to its function characteristics and structure relationship of AFP head.The model of AFP head is designed and drew using 3D software,which can realize parametric drive.The movement of AFP device and AFP head are analyzed to determine ways of their movement.The secondary reconstruction of the virtual reality model of AFP is achieved.First,the scheme and process of secondary reconstruction of VR model should be determined,and the model files from 3D software is exported to the general format(STL format,etc.)files.Then,the principle of virtual assembly is determined based on the theory of model geometry transformation and the VR model of AFP head is reassembled by OpenGL in VC++.The working principle,control content and logical relationship of each control variable and action of the AFP head are analyzed to realize VR control of AFP head.And the virtual AFP head control interface and HCI(human-computer interface)is designed in VC++.Through the control interface or HCI,the virtual AFP head can accept and run control instruction,and the results of instruction can be displayed and feed back to the control center by VR.The information of AFP head include the action switch state of mechanism and the pressure and temperature of AFP.
