Mining dump trucks are widely used in occasions where large quantities of material are transported such as large-scale open pit,water conservancy project because of their large capacity,high fuel efficiency,flexible and convenient operation,etc.As the increasing load capacity,the traditional mechanical drive system is gradually replaced by the electric drive system.Firstly,this paper summarized the development process of mining dump trucks at home and abroad,compared several driving modes of the motor wheel dump truck,and introduced each part of AC drive system.The advantages and disadvantages of VVVF control,vector control and direct torque control were analyzed in detail and the vector control was adopted as the ideal control method.Then,it is verified by the co-simulation model of MATLAB / SIMULINK.As we all know the driving wheels on both sides of the motor wheel should have differential speed steering.In this paper,the differential control strategy based on the steering angle detection was put forward according to the traditional vector control using outer speed loop.Then in order to improve the fuel efficiency of the electric wheel,the control strategy using outer power loop was designed according to the optimal fuel consumption curve of the engine which can realize the differential speed steering more conveniently and can be used as the ideal control strategy for the AC drive system of dump trucks.Finally,the experimental platform of the electric-drive mine dumper was established and used in a practical project.The results showed that the system can well meet the speed regulation requirements of the dump trucks.
