In recent years,with the increasing degree of commercialization in China's society,three-dimensional metal characters with many advantages have appeared more and more in many occasions,such as shop or business or merchandise signs.The three-dimensional metal characters are welded by surface fonts and side support plates.In the welding process of three-dimensional metal characters,the shape of the weld seam varies with the metal character.Before the start of welding,it is necessary to obtain the shape information of the weld to determine the welding route.In the welding process,it is also necessary to determine the relative position of the welding torch and the metal word according to the shape of the weld.At present,the welding of three-dimensional metal characters is done by hand,which greatly limits the welding quality and production efficiency of metal characters.This paper presents a machine vision based 3D metal weld seam tracking system to automatically acquire weld shape information and control welding process accordingly.The system is mainly divided into two parts:image processing part and weld control tracking part.In the image processing section,the machine vision technology is used to deal with the metal image captured by the industrial camera in many steps.Finally,the edge contour information of the metal character is obtained,and the edge map is converted into a vector map,which provides the required information for the following part of the seam tracking control.In the seam control and tracking part,according to the information contained in the vector map,the PID control method is used to control the motion of the welding worktable,and the seam tracking of the metal character is finally realized.In the automatic seam tracking system proposed in this paper,the image processing part is mainly based on the Visual Studio 2013 software development platform,using the C language and the C++ language to write the main program,while the motion control part of the automatic seam tracking device uses the Keil 4 software development system and uses the C language to carry out the main process.The writing of order.Through the experimental test and the analysis of the results,the image processing part is more accurate for the extraction of the weld information of the metal characters.The tracking part of the weld control has good control on the motion of the welding worktable,and the tracking of the weld of the metal characters is more accurate,which satisfies the requirements for the tracking of the weld seam of the stereoscopic character.
