Polyaniline modified epoxy coating is an important research topic in field of anticorrosion coatings.In this paper,we have carry out following researchs around improvement of the application performance of polyaniline in anti-corrosion field:Well-dispersible polyaniline nanorods(PANI-1)and polyaniline nanofibers(PANI-2)were synthesized by a chemically oxidative polymerization and a rapid mixing method,respectively.The effect of the polyaniline morphologies,polyaniline content and coating thickness of polyaniline modified epoxy coatings on the anticorrosive behavior was investigated systematically.It is found that the PANI-1 modified by surfactant possesses good dispersion stability in organic solvent because of its loose nanostructure.Thus PANI-1 has a better performance of anti-corrosion on carbon steel compared with PANI-2.The PANI-1 modified epoxy coating has the best mechanical properties and corrosion resistance when PANI-1 content is 6.5%.The corrosion resistance is also bound up with coating thickness,and a better corrosion resistance is obtained when coating thickness is over 200 ?m.Salt spray and immersion test in artificial sea water after 4500 h show polyaniline modified epoxy coating display good anti-corrosive effect,which is close with traditional epoxy zinc-rich coating.The glass-supported polyaniline(PANI-glass)and sericite-supported polyaniline(PANI-sericite)composites were prepared by an in situ polymerization method using glass flake and sericite as substrates,respectively.The anti-corrosive performance of PANI-glass or PANI-sericite modified epoxy coatings was evaluated by electrochemical corrosion and salt spray measurements.It is found that the PANI-glass composite contains more polyaniline(17.4%)due to the polar surface of glass flake.The results revealed that the PANI-glass modified epoxy coating was more efficient in corrosion protection to carbon steel compared with PANI-sericite modified epoxy coating.When the content of PANI-glass increases to 4%,PANI-glass modified epoxy coating has a good corrosion resistance to carbon steel and a lower cost.PANI-glass modified epoxy coating can be used practically and extensively in anti-corrosion field.
