To improve raising the static stiffness and dynamic characteristics of heavy complex supporting parts of large machine tools,it is a key and urgent task to develop advanced heavy duty CNC machine tools to reduce their own quality. At present, many single optimization methods are difficult to meet the needs of high precision, high reliability, high stiffness, high vibration resistance and optimal size.Taking the column of spherical worm grinding grinding machine as the research object, this paper discusses the comprehensive application of topology optimization, structural bionic and dimension optimization in the structural design of heavy duty machine tools. The main research processes are as follows:(1)According to the design requirements of the spherical worm grinding machine, the prototype structure of the column is designed, and the static and dynamic characteristics of the prototype structure are analyzed, which lays a foundation for the subsequent optimization design.(2)The mathematical model of topology optimization is established with increasing static stiffness and low order natural frequency of column as optimization objective and volume fraction as constraint respectively. The optimal material distribution of the column under load is obtained through the optimization calculation of the software, which provides the theoretical basis for the detailed design of the column structure.(3)According to the result of topology optimization and combined with the idea of structural bionic, the design and layout of column main body and inner cavity rib plate are completed, and the main dimension parameters of inner cavity rib plate are selected and optimized.
