Population, environment and development issues have always been the focus of attention.Affected by many factors, the current air quality situation in China is deteriorating, and haze weather has increased significantly, jeopardizing human health and social development. The formation of haze has natural factors such as climate and meteorology, but more importantly,it is influenced by human factors. As a country with a large population,China is facing a situation in which the urbanization process is accelerating and the trend of family miniaturization is obvious, and the population has a great impact on the environment through various economic and living activities. Therefore,it is necessary to study the demographic factors and other socio-economic factors that affect air quality, and explore the impact of various factors on China's haze pollution,in order to better formulate corresponding prevention and control measures.Based on the analysis of population structure development and the status of haze pollution, this paper analyzes the ways in which populations affect haze pollution.By using the data from 2007 to 2016,from the perspectives of population, economy and technology,it selects proportion of working population, household size, urbanization rate, population density, average schooling years, secondary industry employment proportion, per capita GDP,unit GDP energy consumption, number of motor vehicles, energy structure and other variables to measure haze pollution influences.By constructing STIRPAT and panel data model, the dynamic and static panel data model regression analysis method is used to determine the influence degree and direction of each variable on haze pollution and compare and analyze them. The study shows that the increase in population density, the increase in urbanization rate, and the trend of household miniaturization will significantly increase haze pollution. However, the increase in the proportion of labor force and the increase in the employment of the secondary industry will not worsen haze pollution.Besides, the improvement of population quality and the technical level is conducive to the governance of pollution. In addition, the number of vehicles and the energy structure are still important factors in increasing the pollution of haze.Based on the research results and the current development situation, this paper proposes that at the demographic level,it is necessary to pay attention to the synergy effect of various population structure variables on haze pollution, advocate a family model that is conducive to sustainable development, take the green urbanization road and continue to promote the improvement in population quality and technology. What's more, effective measures should be formulated from the administrative, economic and legal levels to supervise and promote the control of haze pollution, enhance public awareness of environmental protection, increase public participation, and jointly manage haze pollution.
