At present,most of the semi-automatic rotary cutting machines put into production in small and medium-sized rotary cutting machine factories are completed in the way of human eye observation and manual roll-to-roll,and the automatic measurement of the diameter of rotary cutting logs has not yet been realized.In order to measure log diameter accurately and quickly,solve the problem of occupying manpower in log peeling section,and realize the automatic and fast measurement of log diameter,this paper based on the actual production situation of the rotary cutting machine factory designs and develops two measuring systems which based on two different non-contact measurement methods--image measurement and ultrasonic sensor ranging principle.The research idea of measurement system based on image measurement is mainly to use image processing technology to preprocess the image with linear laser line segment.Five different calculation schemes are designed.The quasi-tree model is calibrated to obtain the measured data of the system,and the corresponding mathematical models are obtained by using six different fitting methods.Finally,according to the evaluation parameters of the fitting model,the optimal measurement model which can be used in the measurement system is obtained and brought into the system to complete the opening of the measurement system.Hair.The measurement system based on the principle of ultrasonic sensor ranging mainly uses the principle of ultrasonic ranging to measure the diameter of rotary-cut logs.STM32 single chip computer is selected as the core controller to control the whole circuit.When the photoelectric switch detects that logs are transported to the measuring range,the signal is sent to the single chip computer.The single chip computer triggers three ultrasonic sensors to start measuring the diameter of logs.Line logic calculation is sent to LCD screen for display.Finally,two measurement systems based on different methods were used to measure 20 rotary cutting logs in the rotary cutting machine equipment site,and data analysis was carried out to evaluate the system and analyze the causes of the errors of the two measurement systems.The results show that the two measuring systems can meet the production needs of the rotary cutting plant,and they are non-contact measuring methods with the advantages of objective,high efficiency and low cost.However,the measurement system based on ultrasonic ranging has higher accuracy and less environmental impact,which is more suitable for wood veneer production and processing environment.
