As its low cost,high speed and high precision,arc spray rapid tooling is extensively studied all over the world.In this paper,the study aim to improve the performance of electric arc spray gun,basic on studying atomization theory,gas dynamics and mechanical design,then on the use the CFD simulation software and experimental as the tools,to develop the arc spray gun with good atomization.The main contents include the atomized droplets breaking research in the arc gun,supersonic nozzle design,optimization atomization studies of assisted atomization,the stability of the gun and its whole structural design,etc.In the end,with the theory before,the arc spray gun with faster airflow,better atomization spray process and more steady is worked out.1.The problem of metal droplet atomization is studied.Collated and summarized the previous theories.With CFD software,we analyzed atomization of various factors,compared and summarized the results,summed up the conditions and the methods for good atomization.2.Derived the parameter of supersonic flow nozzle with the aerodynamic,designed the structure of supersonic nozzle with the parameter from above studies,and use CFD software to analyze the flow field.3.In order to optimize the atomization,the structure of the nozzle need to be improved,the assisted atomization nozzle is designed.Using the simulation and experiment verify the auxiliary atomizing nozzle's impact for atomization flow field.4.The studying of the stability of the gun,include the stable flow field and the stable arc burning.The new design of the spray gun with assembly drawings has been given.
