As competition in the industry intensifies,a faster and better reaction to provide product solutions to the demand in the market is required of the mold companies.The current mainstream CAD platforms,which aim to solve a wide range of modeling requirements in various fields,can not provide thourough and targeted solutions for the mold design process.At the same time,in the mold design process,standard parts and mold bases are used plenty of times.If these parts or assembles are repeatedly manually designed and modeled,the duplication of labor and the human error of design process will inevitably increase,which is not conductive to the improvement of the industry design efficiency.Therefore,to establish the standard part and mold base library at the basis of the design-reuse scheme,and to provide effective and rapid design-aid tools in the process of the design have become a effective way to improve design efficiency,reduce design errors and shorten product development cycle.Aimed at the design process of injection mold,with the aid of database and geometric-modeling kernel,a cross-platform,independent and web-based,rapid injection-mold design system was developed.Distinct from the traditional mold design system which is developed on a certain single CAD platform,this system adopted a new approach.The standard part and mold base management modeling module is separated from the CAD-operating module.Automation interfaces are used to achieve the data exchange between the two modules.An independent modeling kernel is used to realize the independent component modeling.CAA secondary development is used to achieve the specific functions on the CATIA platform,such as the importing,intelligent assembling,invert editing,BOM of standard parts and the continuous assembling,sheer design of mold base.Hence,a rapid design system of injection mold is established.Based on the above work,the system can provide valid support for the design process of the injection mold and can effectively improve the design efficiency and reduce duplication of work.
