| Under increasingly strict environmental regulations and broader social supervision,companies begin to face up to the impact of their business activities on the ecological environment.At present,the environmental pollution problem of enterprises is still severe.Only by implementing green-oriented eco-innovation actively can we achieve a balance and win-win situation between the company’s own development and ecological environmental protection.However,in reality,the stimulation from external forces such as environmental regulations and social supervision are limited to push enterprises implement eco-innovation actively,and they still lack the willingness and motivations to embed eco-innovation actively.Therefore,how to promote enterprises to implement eco-innovation on their own,minimize the negative impact of business activities on the ecological environment,and achieve a symbiotic and win-win situation between enterprises and the ecological environment are important topics to be discussed in the research.Focusing on the driving factors for the implementation of eco-innovation in enterprises,scholars have conducted extensive research and made some progress in the past.However,existing studies lack the consideration of the antecedents that affect eco-innovation from the perspective of leadership.In particular,they have overlooked the factors that may have significant impact on enterprises Leadership attributes that influence senior management.Upper echelons theory holds that the personal characteristics of senior managers are important factors that influence corporate strategic decisions and actions.Therefore,this research introduces responsible leadership into the driving model of eco-innovation,and try to explain the antecedents of the initiative to implement eco-innovation from the perspective of leadership of senior managers.At the same time,the impact of eco-innovation on corporate environmental performance also needs to verify from a more subdivided dimension.In view of this,this study is based on the basic ideas of "leadership-organizational behavior-organizational results",based on the absorption of stakeholder theory,upper echelons theory and resource-based theory,from a new perspective of leadership,explores the relationship between responsible leadership,eco-innovation and corporate environmental performance,and examines the moderate role of managerial discretion between responsible leadership and eco-innovation.This study mainly discusses the following issues:firstly the dimension of the responsible leadership;secondly,the impact of responsible leadership on eco-innovation,and the relationship between the two under different managerial discretion arrangements;the effect of eco-innovation on corporate environmental performance.Specifically,this study has systematically had a good grasp of the results of existing research through a large number of literature readings,and clarified the concepts,dimensions,measurements,influencing factors and effects of related variables.Based on theoretical research,the study establish the relationship models and proposed sets of research hypotheses.Then,based on the sample data obtained from the questionnaire survey of 208 senior executives of manufacturing enterprises,data analysis and hypothesis testing were carried out using SPSS24.0 and AMOS23.0 software.The main research results show that:(1)Through the grounded research,the responsible leadership includes three dimensions:relationship building,relationship governance and sharing orientation,and the three dimensions have a layered progressive relationship;(2)through the structural equation modeling,the results show that relationship building,relationship governance and sharing orientation have positive effects on incremental eco-innovation;relationship governance and sharing orientation have positive effects on radical eco-innovation;the positive impact on radical eco-innovation from relationship building is not significant;both incremental eco-innovation and radical eco-innovation have a positive impact on corporate environmental performance,and the impact of radical eco-innovation is more significant;(3)through hierarchical regression analysis:managerial discretion play a significant moderate role between sharing orientation and incremental eco-innovation,radical eco-innovation,and between relationship governance and radical eco-innovation.Based on the research on the relationship between responsible leadership,eco-innovation,corporate environmental performance and managerial discretion,this research introduces the leadership factor into the theoretical model of eco-innovation,broadens the theoretical perspective of eco-innovation antecedents research.At the same time,it also extends the application of responsible leadership in the field of organizational innovation;the grounded research on responsible leadership promotes the theoretical research of responsible leadership in the context of domestic organizations;at the same time,the study also considers the boundary conditions of managerial discretion,enriching the theoretical results of the relationship between eco-innovation and responsible leadership,The research results of the management mechanism of managerial discretion at the enterprise level have been expanded.In addition,the theoretical results of the research also better guide enterprises to carry out eco-innovation practice,promote enterprises to pay attention to enhance the responsible leadership level of managers,strengthen their eco-innovation ability,and pay attention to the use and grasp of management autonomy in this process flexibly. |
