six sigma management is a method to improve product quality and work efficiency.It was first proposed by MOTOROLA in the United States.Later,it was quickly promoted in domestic and foreign enterprises as a manufacturing process improvement tool.Many companies have promoted six sigma as an organizational change method and business strategy to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.By designing and supervising every process flow,they strive to achieve the maximum benefit with the minimum investment.The statistical goal is to achieve only 3.4 defects per million products of enterprises.The main content of this paper is to combine the current quality of cathode copper products in TY company to find the key reasons for the low primary qualification rate of cathode copper,put forward targeted improvement plans,and eliminate the key factors affecting the quality of cathode copper through the implementation of plans and standardized control,so as to realize the purpose of reducing costs and increasing efficiency for the enterprise.The main research method of this paper is to use the six sigma DMAIC method to carry out project quality improvement activities,and adopt the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to improve the primary pass rate of cathode copper.Adopt SIPOC diagram analysis method and flowchart to define the process needing improvement,set up six sigma quality improvement project team and define the improvement target,scope and plan.After brainstorming method and causal diagram analysis were used to find out all potential quality influencing factors,pareto permutation diagram was drawn to conclude that the product appearance quality was the main influencing factor of cathode copper primary pass rate.Meanwhile,Minitab software was used to analyze the consistency of the measurement system to ensure the reliability of the collected data.Then the FMEA table was used to screen out high impurity content of electrolyte,unstable qualification rate of positive plate,improper anode shaping,unreasonable liquid feeding mode in electrolytic cell,and inadequate tank surface management.These five factors were the key factors affecting the appearance quality of cathode copper,and the boxplot was used to verify its rationality.Finally,an improvement plan corresponding to the five key factors was formulated.After implementation,the improvement results were controlled through the revision of standardized documents,and the stability and sustainability of the improvement results were analyzed and monitored byprocess capability.The process flow of cathode copper production was successfully improved by using six sigma management and solving the problem,and the primary pass rate of cathode copper was increased from 32.5% before improvement to 94.2%,which reached the advanced level of electrolytic copper industry.While creating direct economic benefits of no less than50 million yuan per year,the company successfully introduced the six sigma concept of analysis and decision-making based on data and facts.At the end of the paper,it is proposed that the primary pass rate of cathode copper should be continuously improved in a deeper level with the goal of zero defect,and the application prospect of the comprehensive promotion of six sigma management in all process links of TY company in the next stage is prospected.
