For a long time,China's extensive economic development mode not only brings rapid economic growth, but also causes increasing pressure on domestic resource conservation and environmental protection. Therefore, the coordinated and sustainable development of economy and resources and environment has gradually become an important topic of concern in China and the world. The strategy of "accelerating the reform of ecological civilization system and building a beautiful China" clearly put forward in the report of the 19 th national congress of the communist party of China also highlights the necessity and urgency of prioritizing ecology. As one of the regions with the strongest comprehensive strength and the greatest strategic support in China, the development of The Yangtze River Economic Zone is facing many obstacles, especially the pressure of ecological environment. Therefore,on the basis of existing theories, this paper introduces the concept of ecological efficiency, measures the level of ecological efficiency of The Yangtze River Economic Zone, and further empirically analyzes its existing influencing factors,in order to provide some reference for the construction of regional ecological civilization in China. This paper build ecological efficiency measure index system of The Yangtze River Economic Zone from resource consumption, environmental pollution, social input and economic output aspects to choose the appropriate indicators, then use super efficiency DEA and Malmquist index and decomposition model, respectively from the perspectives of both static and dynamic two kinds of different measurement and analysis of The Yangtze River Economic Zone in different cities, provinces and regions between 2003-2017 levels of ecological efficiency. For further analysis of the influencing factors of ecological efficiency, based on the measured results, the paper introduces the first-order lag term of eco-efficiency to build a dynamic panel model on the basis of the benchmark regression, and studies the influencing factors of eco-efficiency of cities in The Yangtze River Economic Zone by using systematic generalized method of moments(SYS-GMM).Then,quantile regression is used to investigate the effects of variables on eco-efficiency of cities in The Yangtze River Economic Zone at different levels and the possible differences. The results show that :(1)The Yangtze River Economic Zone shows a relatively high level of ecological efficiency on the whole, with an average annual growth rate of 6.8%;(2)There is a big difference in the ecological efficiency between the Yangtze river basins and the provinces. There is an obvious "collapse in the middle" in the spatial distribution, and the growth of the ecological efficiency in the upper, middle and lower reaches is obviously divided by a ladder;(3)The rapid progress of technical capability has made a great contribution to the improvement of ecological efficiency, and the scale efficiency has become the main factor restricting the efficiency level;(4)From the urban level,27 cities have reached the relatively effective level of ecological efficiency, and most of them are still in the ineffective stage.Except for Suzhou and Huangshi, the ecological efficiency of other cities increased continuously during the research period;(5)Economic development level, education level and tertiary industry structure have positive impacts on ecological efficiency, while urbanization rate, fiscal decentralization, fixed asset investment and secondary industry structure have negative impacts. In the end, this paper puts forward some suggestions on improving the industrial structure, optimizing the government's assessment mechanism, guiding foreign investment reasonably, and attaching importance to education investment,in the hope of promoting the coordinated development of economy and ecology and providing references for the sustainable development of The Yangtze River Economic Zone.
