Since the beginning of the 21 st century, human society has developed rapidly, but at the same time, the ecological environment in which human beings live has been slowly deteriorating.People all over the world began to actively look for measures to save, the establishment of national parks is one of the important environmental protection measures.Chinese exploration of national park officially began with the “The Master Plan for the Establishment of the National Park System” in 2017.Issues related to the development of national park tourism are part of the exploration, and the research on gateway towns closely related to national park tourism has also entered the exploration stage.Based on this background, this paper studies the tourism development of giant panda national park gateway town on the basis of Chinese current national park policy, the successful cases of foreign national park gateway town and the actual situation of giant panda national park.Based on the literature research method, this paper firstly analyzes and summarizes the relevant policies of Chinese national parks, and then summarizes the successful experience of the gateway town of foreign national parks, and proposes a feasible tourism development model for the gateway town of giant panda national park. Then, questionnaire and SPSS software were used to investigate the tourism perception of local residents in Huya,a small town at the entrance of giant panda national park,so as to obtain their demands for tourism development. Finally, the author puts forward some countermeasures to solve the existing problems of tourism development in Huya, the gateway town of giant panda national park. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)This paper concludes that national parks need to shift part of the tourism functions to the outside under the Strictest protection, and gateway towns are ideal destinations. The construction of small town will also benefit multi-stakeholders,including national parks, local governments and community residents. And it also can ease the contradiction between the national park main body and the community residents due to the strict ecological protection.(2)By summing up the construction experience of Jackson,Tusayan and Banff,it is concluded that the gateway town of national park should take ecological civilization construction as the core, pay attention to the role of local residents in tourism development, pay equal attention to ecological protection and quality of life, master the regional functions and architectural landscape planning of the town, and build a common ecological value among the community residents.(3)Through the study on the tourism perception of residents in Huya town,it is found that the residents' perception of the local economic benefits brought by tourism development is not obvious, and the perception of different residents is greatly different.Residents have a strong desire for tourism development, and their demands mainly include the repair of transportation facilities, financial guarantee for the operation of tourism, relevant training for the operation of tourism, employment driven by tourism and integration of culture into tourism development.(4)In the process of eco-tourism construction, the gateway town of giant panda national park should focus on five points: Focus on the town's ecological civilization construction;the harmonious development of the community;the implementation of the town's development strategy;the construction of tourism infrastructure;it is to explore diversified eco-tourism ways.
