The insufficiency of reactive power in the power grid will not only lead to the waste of power,but also affect the quality of power and reliability of power supply,resulting in economic losses.Therefore,it is necessary to compensate the reactive power in the power grid.The study of reactive power compensation is not only of practical significance,but also of theoretical value.Thyristor switched capacitor(TSC)is a kind of reactive power compensation method which is widely used at present.It has the advantages of simple structure and low cost in practical application.In contrast,the static synchronous compensator(STATCOM)shows a more ideal dynamic characteristics,its advantages are accurate control,fast response,excellent filtering performance,and can effectively deal with the system voltage fluctuations.In this paper,the hybrid compensation can not only ensure the dynamic control and continuous compensation ability of the system,but also effectively reduce the compensation cost,which has a good practical significance and development prospects.This paper first introduces the operation principle and basic structure of and,compares their working characteristics,and analyzes the basic operation principle of TSC+STATCOM hybrid system.The control strategy of reactive power compensation system of hybrid system is studied,the capacity ratio of TSC and STATCOM is calculated,and the controller based on Hamiltonian function is designed.In this paper,traditional control method is used to achieve the stable balance of reactive power for TSC,indirect current is used to control STATCOM to complete the small-scale management of dynamic reactive power.The simulation model of TSC and STATCOM is established by using MATLAB/Simulink software.The simulation results show that the hybrid compensation device can not only improve the power factor of the system,but also continuously compensate.The system can meet the requirements of improving power factor and stabilizing voltage.The hardware and software of the hybrid reactive power compensation system are designed,which lays the foundation for the next experimental research.
