Objective: To study the current situation and influencing factors of primary and secondary school students' Knowledge-Attitude-Practice(KAP)and quality of life(QoL)in an area of Chongqing,to explore the effect of peer education on the KAP and QoL of primary and secondary school students, and provide theoretical basis for improving the QoL of students in puberty.Method: A baseline survey of 1309 primary and middle school students selected from four schools(including two primary schools and two secondary schools)by stratified sampling method was conducted in December 2016 to evaluate the current situation and influencing factors of the pubertal KAP and QoL of the primary and secondary school students in an area of Chongqing.Four schools were divided into intervention group and control group(each group includes one primary school and one secondary school).112 peer educators(each class had at least two boys andtwo girls)were selected and trained. The intervention took place from March 2017 to November 2017.April,May,September and October 2017,two investigators were assigned to supervise the peer educators' activities. The control group took no action.A final survey was conducted immediately after the intervention(December 2017)to evaluate the impact of peer education interventions on pubertal KAP and QoL.The questionnaires being used in the baseline survey and the final survey were designed by the subject group.Results:1.Baseline conditionsThe baseline survey showed that the pubertal knowledge score of subjects was 8.58 ± 5.09,accounting for 42.90% of the total score(20scores).the pubertal attitude score of subjects was 22.49±2.76,accounting for 83.30% of the total score(27 scores).the pubertal practice score of subjects was 25.91 ± 3.59,accounting for 66.44% of the total score(39scores).The score of total QoL was 138.16±18.31,accounting for 70.85 %of the total score(195 scores). The four dimensions from low to high is the pubertal dimension(66.00%),the psychological dimension(70.36%),the social dimension(71.53 %),the physical dimension(74.00 %).Multiple linear regression analysis of boys' pubertal KAP and QoL showed that, the higher the academic stage and the better the learning achievement, the higher the score of pubertal knowledge(all P<0.05).Thelower the academic stage, the better the learning achievement, the more number of close friends and the higher the score of pubertal knowledge, the higher the score of pubertal attitude(all P<0.05).The lower the academic stage, the higher the father's education level and the score of pubertal knowledge and attitude, the higher the score of pubertal behavior(all P<0.05).The better the learning achievement, the more number of close friends, the lower the score of pubertal knowledge and the higher the score of pubertal behavior, the higher the score of total QoL,physical and social dimensions(all P<0.05).The more number of close friends, the lower the score of pubertal knowledge and the higher the score of pubertal behavior, the higher the score of psychological dimension(all P<0.05).The more number of close friends, the higher the score of pubertal attitude and behavior, the higher the score of pubertal dimension(all P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis of girls' pubertal KAP and QoL showed that, the higher the academic stage and the father's education level, the better the learning achievement, the higher the score of pubertal knowledge(all P<0.05).the higher the father's education level and the score of pubertal knowledge, the better the learning achievement, the higher the score of pubertal attitude(all P<0.05).The lower the academic stage and the higher the score of pubertal knowledge and attitude, the higher the score of pubertal behavior(all P<0.05).The lower the academic stage and the score of pubertal knowledge, the better the learningachievement, the more number of close friends and the higher the score of pubertal attitude and behavior, the higher the score of total QoL(all P<0.05).The lower the academic stage and the score of pubertal knowledge, the higher the mother's education level and more number of close friends, the higher the score of physical dimension(all P<0.05).The higher the mother's education level and the score of pubertal behavior, the better the learning achievement, the more number of close friends, the lower the score of pubertal knowledge, the higher the score of psychological dimension.(all P<0.05).The lower the academic stage and the score of pubertal knowledge, the better the learning achievement, the more number of close friends, the higher the father's education level and the score of pubertal attitude and behavior, the higher the score of social dimension(all P<0.05).The better the learning achievement, the higher the score of pubertal attitude and behavior, the higher the score of pubertal dimension(all P<0.05).2.Evaluation of interventionA covariance analysis of the growth values of KAP and QoL before and after intervention shown that, after the intervention, the score of pubertal knowledge, attitude and practice in the intervention group were significantly higher than that in the control group(F values were 56.721,8.062,12.026,seperately,all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total QoL and the four-dimension and 10-factor scores(all P>0.05).In the intervention group, the growth values of pubertal knowledge, attitude and practice were significantly lower than that of girls, and the growth values of the total QoL and the physical, psychological and social dimension scores were significantly higher than that of girls. The growth values of pubertal knowledge of the senior grade of primary school students were significantly lower than that of the secondary school students. While the growth values of pubertal attitude, practice and total QoL,physical, psychological, social, pubertal dimension were higher(all P<0.05).Conclusion: Strengthening students' learning ability and interpersonal ability, improving parents' cognition level and intention can effectively improve the level of pubertal KAP and QoL of students.Improving students' pubertal knowledge can effectively change students' bad pubertal attitudes and cultivate healthy pubertal practice, thus improving the QoL of primary and secondary school students.Peer education can effectively improve the level of KAP.However,However, more comprehensive, systematic and more protracted pubertal education is needed to improve the Qo L significantly, and such education on the primary school students is more effective than on secondary school students.
