Purpose:The damage of radioactive salivary glands is one of the common complication of radiotherapy for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.According to statistics, the incidence of radiation xerostomia is extremely high, which seriously affects the quality of life of NPC patients after radiotherapy. Therefore,in this study,NPC patients with postradiation xerostomia as the research object, with dendrobium and acupuncture as intervention methods, the clinical effects of acupuncture, dendrobium, and acupuncture combined with dendrobium on NPC patients with postradiation xerostomia were evaluated according to the subjective and objective indexes of salivary gland secretion, providing valuable reference for the clinical treatment of postradiation xerostomia.Methods:60 patients in accordance with the inclusion criteria with NPC from Guangdong Province hospital of Chinese traditional medicine, dividing 60 patients into three groups by using randomized, controlled clinical trial method, the control group 1 intervention measures is acupuncture treatment, the control group 2 intervention measures is dendrobium treatment, the experimental group intervention measures is acupuncture combined with dendrobium,20 cases in each group. Before and after treatment, the oral dryness score, the collection of basic total saliva, and acid stimulation were collected to collect the stimulant saliva.Next, using chi square test, analysis of variance, rank sum test and other statistical tools to data analysis,to compare and analyze the clinical efficacy of three kinds of treatment methods for NPC patients with postradiation xerostomia. Results:To dry mouth score and salivary for comprehensive treatment of radiation-induced xerostomia after treatment evaluation. In the observation group,14 were effective,5 were improved,1 were invalid;in the control group1,7 were effective,6 were improved,7 were invalid;in the control group2,5 were effective,9 were improved,6 were invalid. There was a significant difference between the three groups in rank sum test(p<0.05).The observation group was better than the control group 1 and 2.There was no significant difference between the control group 1 and the group 2.Conclusion:1.Acupuncture,dendrobium in the treatment of NPC patients with postradiation xerostomia(yin-deficiency type)has a certain clinical effect, which can improves the quality of life of the patients.2.Acupuncture combined with dendrobium treatment method compared with single therapy,in the NPC patients with postradiation xerostomia of the improvement of patients, more significant. It can improve the quality of life of the patients with no obvious side effects, which worth further study and clinical application.3.Acupuncture and dendrobium have the advantages of simple and high acceptability compared with the existing treatment methods of postradiation xerostomia.
