Purpose: This study aim to investigate the association between colorectal adenomatous polyps and type 2 diabetes.Methods::1217 patients who were diagnosed as colorectal polyps and underwent surgury treatment in Shandong Cancer Hospital between September 2016 and September 2018 were collected. The patient’s personal information such as age, gender, history of type 2 diabetes, polyp growth, degree of dysplasia, and pathological type were collected. The patients were divided into adenoma group and non-adenomas group.Morever, the adenoma group was divided into the subgroup with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the subgroup without type 2 diabetes mellitus. The chi-square and logistics regression equation were used to compare data across all groups. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS19.0.A P-value < 0.05 was regarded as significant. Results:Among the 1217 cases selected, there were more males than females(64% vs.36%).More patients with adenomatous polyps than non-adenomatous polyps(73% vs.27%).The number of people over 60 is high(64% vs.36%).The patients were divided into adenoma group and non-adenomas group, single factor analysis was performed,Gender differences were not statistically significant.Compared with patients ≤60,patients over 60 had a high incidence of colorectal adenoma(79% Vs.63%,P<0.05);the incidence of colorectal adenoma was higher in patients with type 2 diabetes compared with those without type 2 diabetes(83% vs.69%,P < 0.05).Substituting each factor into a logistic binary regression model, the risk of colorectal adenoma in patients with type 2 diabetes was 2.169 times higher than in patients without type 2 diabetes(OR = 2.169,95% CI = 1.485-3.168,P = 0.000).At the same time, the adenoma group was divided into the subgroup with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the subgroup without type 2 diabetes mellitus. The clinical features of colorectal adenoma between the two groups were analyzed.Statistical analysis was performed on the age, gender, growth site and pathological type of patients with adenoma and whether adenoma was associated with type 2 diabetes, and the difference was not statistically significant;analysis of the degree of dysplasia indicates that patients with colorectal adenoma with type 2 diabetes have a higher proportion of high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(46% vs.29%,P < 0.05).Conclusion:Type 2 diabetes is closely associated with the generation of colorectal adenomatous polyps and may be an independent risk factor for malignant transformation of colorectal adenomatous polyps.
