Objective:The purpose of this research was to observe serum betatrophin levels in patients with diabetic retinopathy(DR)at different stages and to analyze the related factors to explore the role of serum betatrophin in the development of DR.Methods:A total of 120 patients with type 2 diabetes(T2DM)were enrolled in this study.According to fundus photography results,60 patients were classified as non-diabetic retinopathy(NDR)group,30 patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR)group, and 30 patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)group.Uniform Determination of general indicators of the human body,at the same time Triacylglycerol(TG),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),fasting blood glucose(FBG),2 hour plasma glucose(2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc)and serum betatrophin level were measured in all the selected subjects. The influencing factors for serum betatrophin were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis.Result1.Compared with NDR group, fasting blood glucose,2 hour plasma glucose,TG and LDL-C levels were significantly higher in NPDR group(P<0.05).Fasting blood glucose,2 hour plasma glucose,TG and LDL-C levels were significantly higher in PDR group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Compared with the NDR group, the serum levels of betatrophin were significantly higher in the NPDR and PDR groups(P<0.01).Compared with the NPDR group, the level of serum betatrophin in the PDR group was significantly higher(P<0.01).3.Simple linear correlation analysis showed that serum levels of betatrophin in patients with T2DM were positively correlated with duration of diabetes,HbAlc,TG,LDL-C,2hPG,and severity of DR(P<0.05).The level of serum betatrophin in patients with DR was positively correlated with duration of diabetes,TG and the severity of DR(P<0.05).4.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that with serum betatrophin levels as the dependent variable, the statistically added index after simple linear regression analysis was used as an independent variable, and severity of DR,TG and LDL-C were independent influence factors of serum betatrophin levels(P<0.01).Conclusion1.Serum betatrophin levels were significantly elevated in patients with diabetic retinopathy, and increased levels of serum betatrophin in proliferative diabetic retinopathy were particularly significant.2.The level of serum betatrophin is closely related to the severity of DR in patients with T2DM,suggesting that as the level of serum betatrophin increases,DR will gradually increase.
