Objective:To investigate whether there is any difference in clinical features and surgical outcomes between patients with hereditary intermittent exotropia and patients with non-hereditary intermittent exotropia. Methods:A total of 213patients with intermittent exotropia who underwent surgical treatment in the first affiliated hospital of guangxi medical university from July 2016 to August 2018were retrospectively analyzed, patients with hereditary intermittent exotropia were divided into group A,and the remaining patients without hereditary intermittent exotropia were divided into group B,and the two groups of patient's gender, age, visual acuity, refractive status, prism dioptor and surgical outcomes were analyzed.Results:(1)There were 22 patients in group A(9 females and 13males),accounting for 11.4%,this indicates that the proportion of hereditary history among patients with intermittent exotropia in our hospital was11.4%.There were 191 patients(94 females and 97 males)in group B,accounting for 88.6%.There was no significant difference in gender between the two groups(X~2=0.545,P>0.05).(2)The average age of onset in group A was4.86±4.77 years old;and the average age of onset in group B was 5.55±6.12years old. There was no significant difference in the average age of onset between the two groups(t=-0.506,P>0.05).(3)22 patients in group A had normal corrected vision, while 181 patients in group B had normal corrected vision. There was no significant difference in vision between the two groups((34)~2=1.209,P>0.05).In group A,the average equivalent spherical mirror of the right eye was-0.16DS(95%CI:-1.14DS~+0.83DS),the average equivalent spherical mirror of the left eye was-0.12DS(95%CI:-1.09DS~+0.86DS).In group B,the average equivalent spherical mirror of the right eye was-0.71DS(95%CI:-1.000DS~-0.410DS),and the average equivalent spherical mirror of the left eye was-0.69DS(95%CI:-1.02DS~-0.37DS).There was no statistically significant difference in the right eye and left eye equivalent spherical mirror between the two groups(right eye:t=1.152,P>0.05),(left eye:t=1.413,P>0.05).(4)The average prism dioptor of patients in group A was-52.6±14.3PD,and that of patients in group B was-52.3±17.6PD.The difference in prism dioptor between the two groups was not statistically significant(t=-0.070,P>0.05).(5)There was no significant difference in positive rate between group A and group B at 6 weeks,6 months or more after surgery(6 weeks:(34)~2=0.108,P>0.05,6 months or more:(34)~2=2.579,P>0.05).Conclusion:The gender, age, visual acuity, refractive status, prism dioptor and surgical curative effect of patients with hereditary intermittent exotropia were consistent with that of patients without hereditary intermittent exotropia.
